View Full Version : So, the film "The Break-Up"

Notsomuch a comedy people. It had the most random cast ever too (suddenly we realized the guy playing Joey Lauren-Adams husband is Ralphy from A Christmas Story...though there is a great "inside joke" from Xmas Story in the movie).
Jason Batemen was fairly pointless even though I love him.
Anyway, I had assumed this was being advertised as a comedy, but it's mostly just depressing. It felt a little too real, even, at times (except for the whole being a gorgeous movie star thing). The very first fight between the two main characters really did just feel like a break-up fight between a real couple. I don't know what to think about it really...

I think that Jon Favreau has gotten a tad bit overweight.
Jennifer Aniston has a hairy bush. True story.
I liked it, mostly because the fights were almost word for word the fights that the b/f and I have... I laughed out loud during the most serious/quiet times in the theater when I was supposed to be somber with the rest of the audience...

i'll bite
how do you know this?

I think that, after Swingers, he didn't want to get typecast or something, but studios really didn't know what to do with him.
Hence, Psycho, The Lost World, Return to Paradise et al.

She goes to the waxer to get a "Telly Savalas", so I'm not sure how much bush she would have... you see a vasaline lens of her ass...

I really don't understand the Aniston-as-sex-symbol thing.
she has a great body. i'd definitely sex her body all nice like.
I saw a cool movie this weekend, but it wasn't the Breakup. In fact it was just the opposite. In the one scene 6 guys and 1 girl weren't 'breaking up!!!'

Yes, but some romantic comedies (very few) can be worthwhile, and something with Vince Vaughn is nothing to be scoffed at usually. But my point is that this isn't really a comedy...
I am glad that Vincent Dinofrio (sp?) was cast as a family member of his because they do look alike.

Uh, look at the guy's track record (http://imdb.com/name/nm0000681/filmorate). You're actually better off betting that he'll be in a bad movie than a good one.

Oh yes I know he's been in lots of shit, I meant more along the lines of, since Wedding Crashers when people finally realized how to cast him.

I started to post this earlier today but then thought no, enree, you're being too critical of Jen but I'm going to say it anyway because hollywood thin is going so damn far.
In a preview that I saw a couple of weeks ago, I got the plot's premise. In one scene, I guess she's trying to either force her ex to move out of the apartment or she's seeking revenge on him for something or other. So she does the most logical thing I can think of: she walks across the room naked. In the previews, they show her from behind--it's obviously G rated--you only see her back.
Anyway, her spine. I still have the image of it in my head. You could see bones and knobby things along it...she was sort of straight up and down (no curves). She was terribly thin. I mean, like bordering-on-emaciated looking thin. (Yet in dresses in the previews, she sort of looked okay--from what I saw.) But that naked-back scene...man, that was severe-looking. Which is a shame because the female form and back--so pretty but if you rubbed up against her from behind, it looked like you'd maybe cut yourself on her spine bones and those knobby bits.

Yes, she is getting to the "too-thin" stage as it looked in a few shots. Some she looked normal, others...notsomuch.

I liked the cell in that it was cool to watch, the plot was lame though. Plus J.Lo can't act.
P.S. Yeah the break up sucked (n)
