often, drug companies or doctors even dont really look at the withdrawing effects of drugs that are considered generally safe, ie, anti-depressants. it's an ignored side effect, basically, because VERY FEW PEOPLE are meant to be chemically enhanced all their lives, but it's a hardship that many have to go through.

do any of you have withdrawal horror stories you dont mind sharing???

I don't know, most doctors I know are pretty good about educating thier patient about weening off of anti-depresants. I know my mother didn't tell her doctor that she wanted to stop taking her antidepressants and she started to have problems (could have had a heartattack) and her doctor was like "OMG! Why didn't you tell me you were doing this? I told you to let me know if you wanted to stop taking any of your meds."

A co-worker who is on Paxil gets electrocution types of shocks when she backs down on her dose.

I had fairly bad withdrawal symptoms after being on high-dose codeine for a week to treat dental-related trigeminal neuralgia. The pissy part about it is that codeine doesn't even TOUCH that kind of nerve pain so I had the withdrawal for no good reason.

im going through effexor withdrawal. basically for the past weekend ive done nothing except sit in the basement. i cant deal with the light. i get shocks everytime i move my head too fast, my body aches randomly, i will blackout randomly, and i will cry at the drop of a hat.

this is after the doctor starting weening me off, for the past 2 weeks ive been going off little by little. also, ive lost weight while eating pure junk food, which reinforces my theory that the pills made me a fatty.

really, what bugs me is that no one told me when i was taking these pills that i would have to suffer so hardcore from not taking them anymore. it's fucking hell, but i cannot go back to taking the pills.
oh and my doctor's response: "yea, these things have been known to happen to some people. not everyone get withdrawal. are you sure you're feeling -----?" i want to hurl staplers at her.

/confessional rant:o

That co-worker, by the way, man, you could watch her gaining weight. She started the pills one month and maybe 2-3 months later, she was 20-30# heavier. Her doctor said that it had NOTHING to do with Paxil and that she (this grown adult woman who never had a weight problem) would have to learn how to curb her appetite.

I don't know about withdrawal symptoms but I can tell you that alot of doctors don't practice their work hard enough, hence me loosing my best friend last month.

pills are shit!

Better find the solution to your problem then swallowing something that cover up your pain!

THis is my theory and thank you!
