View Full Version : The "Realistic" Dream Car Thread

Sure, everyone's got a fascination with Porsches, Lambos, Bentleys, Ferraris and so forth but truthfully, we could never be able to afford them and just drool over them. Don't be shy in posting those pics though because they're always good to look at.

This is a thread that's dedicated to the cars that's probably more realistic to afford.

I've always had a very strong liking for the Lumina SS ever since I moved to the mid-east a while back. It's Built by GM's Australian Holden division, with some minor reworking and I've only seen them in the mid-east. They may have them in Australia as well but, I'm not sure. I never really thought I'd be in love with a Lumina because in the states, they're pieces of shit.

Anyway, enough of my gabber and it's time to post pics..

http://img349.imageshack.us/img349/3166/chevroletluminathum0cd.jpg

and it's powered with a 5.7 litre 350. The same engine as a Corvette.
http://img349.imageshack.us/img349/1871/604016185zz.jpg

These have always caught my attention. They've got such a mob appeal to them and I'd really love to see one with the top chopped.
http://img343.imageshack.us/img343/1714/picn014ie.jpg

OK, so this one may not be realistic but, I can't wait to see this new Camaro and by far, the design looks way better than any of these recent retro style cars.

There is no American version of that. The only Lumina models in the states are just flat out v-6 or four cylindar.

The pick above is a Mid-East version.

Not in yellow. Those just happened to be the colors of ones that I saw first in Google. And about the Smart Car--I want it as long as it doesn't become trendy. Like the minis--they're too trendy now and now I've gone off them.

sorry P of R, I really don't know of many foreign affordable cars besides Honda and whatnot. They're still nice cars for sure. I know you've got good taste so spice this thread up a bit.

My Moms used to have almost the same exact car as this. She bought it 3 months after I was born. 1972 AMC Javelin.

yeah, I knew that was coming but It's "exotic" to me.

Regular stateside Luminas suck even more ass and that's a true given.

Especially the ones with 4 bangers.

oh man exotic :p nah they are far from exotic

seriously, every second car down here is a commodore. well maybe not every second car, but like 1/5 i'd say

we call them so many different names like commondore and clitoris (every cunts got one)

ericlee
06-07-2006, 04:50 PM
yeah that's sounds about like the Luminas in the states and they're so much alike. Stateside Luminas could usually be found at any trailor park and like I said, the first time I've seen an SS Lumina was in the mid-east and it's the only time I've appreciated them.

Seriously, I really don't think they even make a 5.7 litre version of the Lumina in the states.

Cheverolet has been around waaaaaayyyy longer than Holden.

Unless Holden is the Brand and Commodore is the model but still, I can guarentee Chevrolet has been around longer.

I've never even seen or heard of the Commodore till I opened this thread so, of course the only thing that I can compare it to is the Lumina.

I'm glad to hear that the Commodore came out first because the Lumina is junk and it's pleasant to see that there's a superior model of it.

I need a 2nd hand car for like under €15,000 next year, search for me. Preferably from 2000 onwards, capable of autobahn speeds, German would be a plus, and just all round badassnessability.

How about one of these?
http://webserver2.realnet2000.co.uk/vw.nsf/vw.nsf/974CB216ED96A0F2802570500037BB80/$FILE/FJ51EPL-1.jpg

Golf V6 4-Motion - predecessor to the R32, and you can pick them up for a good price. 2.9 V6 with the same Haldex 4WD system that is in the Audi TT. This car will kick serious arse on the autobahn(y)

ericlee
06-16-2006, 02:53 PM
That's an idea! VW are good cars, and that 3+ litre V6 engine will surely be pushing quite a few ponies.

*adds to idea list*

VWs are sturdy and built to last cars too. I posted a pic of a GTI with a VR6 up there somewhere.

I used to have a 96 Jetta and it only had a 2.0 4cyl. but that thing would scoot and it I've had it up to 60 mph in 2nd gear and it wouldn't redline.

They come with impressive stereos as well. I had factory Bose speakers in mine.

mp-seventythree
06-16-2006, 03:29 PM
Or you could get a Mk III VR6 for a few grand and just tart it up (suspension, wheels, a few choice engine mods)
