So they put it on the market (http://matrix.mris.com/Matrix/Public/Email.aspx?ID=14140912323) this Monday. They've pretty much been at my apartment non-stop for the past 4 days with my kitties and dog while people have been looking at it. A few realtors told my parents they'd HAVE to go down in price if they ever wanted to unload it (the market has been slowing down in Montgomery County recently), but they got an offer today for nearly $10,000 more than what they asked for - as long as they paid the closing fees. Yadda yadda yadda, they've gotta be out by the end of the month.

It's just so weird, because it's my childhood home and I can never go back. Plus, since they're moving to NC, this month is the last I'll see them for a very, very long time. Maybe just holidays and random vacations from here on out. PLUS, I still need a higher-paying full-time job in order to afford my apartment and costly living expenses. Hey, high-class hookers don't come cheap around here. :(

Being completely on my own = (n)

It's probably a good thing that it sold fast because you will have to get it over with. I guess most people deal with this at a younger age, but it's hard.

We sold my family home on June 1. My family had it 44 years. There's a tree in the front yard that came up the summer I was born. My mom already moved out, so I had to attend the closing and clean out the house and everything. I was very emotional off and on, and I was sick to my stomach on the way to the closing. On the last day in the house when I had moved everything out and was vacuuming, I stopped and looked around my old bedroom and out in the yard. I didn't have a functioning camera. I will probably regret not having photos. But we had already taken out mom's wallpaper and painted everything white, so it didn't feel like my mom's house as much.

The family we sold it to seems great. They just love the house -- it's their first house and they have 3 kids who have been raised in an apartment and they all get their own room and they love the yard. So there's good karma.

Except I don't live there. And they're moving out very soon.

Have fun hassling the hispanics who are moving in.
