The cliche is that psychology students tend to be pretty fucked in the head to start with - thats why they do psychology. So even before the break up stage, they are going to be trouble.

My experiance is that this cliche is pretty accurate.

i graduated in psychology (and film and television studies) and this, uh, i don't really agree with.

as an undergraduate student you certainly do not get taught how to psychoanalyse people or read body language or any of that shit. it's all the "boring" science-y stuff like cognition (memory, language etc isht), biopsychology (brain isht), statistical isht and experimental design.

anyone who claims to be able to "fuck with people's heads" and "read your body signals" is talking shit.

I never dated one, but I lived with one. There were 5 of us girls living together our 3rd and 4th years of college. 3 of us had lived together since the beginning, but the psychology student (a high school friend of mine) transferred to my college and moved in with us junior year. We soon learned she was fucked in the head and loved to manipulate us with her mind games. After she messed with all of our self-esteem (i.e. she would declare one of us as "ugly girl" for the night), messed around with a couple of our boyfriends and turned us all against each other, we banned together, compared notes and felt terribly foolish for falling under her power. After finding out about the loogies in the milk and her toenails in the cereal box, we kicked her out. We felt like victims of a animal-testing experiment. Lame.

I've talked to psych majors before. They always try to pin any problems I have on some sort of retarded explanation. Like, the reason why I'm scared I'll fail in school is due to the fact that my dad didn't hug me as much as I'd like when I was little.

My basketball coach in junior college was a psychology major.

He was one ruthless SOB!

He was also a GREAT liar.

He would say something like:

"Hey JR you are really getting better, I am happy with your progress"

and then he would turn around to one of us and be like :
