and it was raining. a nice steady rain. i pour my coffee while wishing i could go back to sleep and proceed to get me and my daughter ready to face the day. out of nowhere (is that one word or two?) we hear the loudest BOOM ever. the daughter starts crying. i comfort. a bit later we leave the house in rain thats comming down so hard i can hardly see to drive. so after work i pull in my driveway and see that the tree in my front yard is all messed up. that ginormous BOOM was lighting hitting my tree.

this happened on tuesday. it kinda freaked me out cause the tree is so close to my house. its one bad ass tree. it didnt even burn it.
it peeled alot of bark off.

The city I live in has this logo of a "G" with our oldest tree inside it:

I believe the tree's something like 200 years old. Either way, a few years ago lighting hit it and COMPLETELY blew it to hell. We still use the symbol though, which I think is pretty gay.

The essploded tree was pretty awesome to look at, though.
