so tuesday night i came back late from a concert, and there weren't any spaces to pack, so i parked on this side street.
well it happend to be street cleaning day, plus since i was just borrowing the car for the week, i didnt have a permit sticker on the car.
so the car got towed on wednesday, and i was freaking out this moning when i went to go somewhere and almost shit myself when it wasnt there. thankfully it wasn't stolen or my mom would have killed me.
but what is odd is that i have seen cars sitting on the road parked illegally with a boot for weeks, and mine gets towed pretty much immediately. i mean, don't they usually just leave a ticket or a warning for a few days before they tow it? and i had to call the police to find out.
i hope i don't have to work extra hours to make up the money i owe for this...
how much IS it gonna cost?

i don't know, they don't tell you anything until you go down there.
my dad is going to get it for me (i am going camping ths weekend), and since it was my mom's car, he said i need to get her a bottle of wine...
any suggestions on what i should get her?
you know my answer to this

Interesting...
My car got towed Tuesday morning.
It broke down in the Bronx monday night, needed a new altenator.
When I went back to fix it, it was gone.
Apparenlty it broke down in a "No Standing" Zone.
The fine people at the NYPD impound lot said i could get the ticket dropped, and the tow charge refunded if I can prove it was broken down.
I'm hoping the $475 mechanic bill will be enough proof, or else it'll cost me an additional $300.

Yeah, I had an expired-meter parking ticket in early May. And I guess they really mean it if now you don't pay within 10 days. I left it for a couple of weeks to pay along with other bills and I got hit with a $43 late fee and a threat of the boot. The city's strapped for cash.

my mate's car got clamped when he stopped in a car park, with hazards on, to unload some equipment.

If your looking for a real thrill do what my brother did... sit in the passenger seat, parking lot, take the car out of park, then struggle getting your seatbelt off.

that sucks.
I hated when I lived in a neighborhood that had street cleaning. Not because of the clean streets, but because sometimes I'd forget and get a 30 dollar ticket

that sucks.
I hated when I lived in a neighborhood that had street cleaning. Not because of the clean streets, but because sometimes I'd forget and get a 30 dollar ticket :mad:Not to mention that those street-cleaning machines do absolutely nothing but displace dust--shifting it from one point to another point a few feet away.
I once went out and put a whole cigarette down on the curb as the machine was approaching my street just to see what would happen and it rolled and passed right over the top of the cigarette leaving it untouched. So I want my parking space back because on my street, it's all grad-student, multi-dwelling units with no garages, no driveways and we prefer our streets to be dusty and with ample parking.

the worst part about it all was that after 3 days nobody was notified that it had been towed, and they probably charged for the extra storage fee...
i should really call home and sort this out before my birthday next week

so the pound fee was $155 which was less than i thought so that was sort of a relief...
but that just means that even if i work a lot these next two weeks, i still might not cover it all
