I'm all about the Spirograph.
Dunno if that counts as a 70's toy per se, but that's, like, mainly when I was using it.
also: Raggedy Ann, Dressie Bessie, Dapper Dan and Baby Joey.

I love Tinkertoys. Tinkertoy Sets were the invention of Charles Pajeau, a stonemason. He was inspired by watching children play with pencils, sticks and empty spools of thread. He developed several basic wooden parts which could be assembled in a variety of three dimensional abstract ways.
He designed his first set in his garage, and with high hopes, displayed the toy at the 1914 American Toy Fair. But nobody was interested. He tried his marketing skills again at Christmas time. He hired several midgets, dressed them in elf costumes, and had them play with "Tinker Toys" in a display window at a Chicago department store.
This publicity stunt made all the difference in the world. A year later, over a million sets had been sold.

We used to throw them off the deck at my friend's house onto the yard below. Someone got hurt once. There was drinking involved. The 70s were awesome.

I still think that Lite Brite (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=soFXG2FaONw) is made of magic.
And like Peachy, I was a big spirograph fan. I liked crafty things more than toys.
I loved making Creepy Crawlers (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C-irD_4UZ_E&feature=related). My neighbor had the Thingmaker! I also liked making stained glass flowers out of hot goo.
But my favorite toy had to be the frisbee. I brought that with me everywhere.

My Grandfather (I called him Papa) would always play frisbee with me after dinner when I stayed with him. He just passed away this year at the ripe old age of 90. He was the best role model a boy could ever have.

Even though I was alive for half that decade I don't recall any "1970s" toys per say.
But I guess Star Wars would definitely make the list...even though it was my biggest fascination in the early 80's (I still have my originals and some new ones in my possession)
I guess Fisher Price People were a favorite
man...my house will be littered with toys soon again
FUCKING AWESOME!

It is sooooo awesome.
My son has 7 lightsabers. That's enough for all the kids in the neighborhood and me.
The force is strong with Knuckles.
