this is a thread for all of your festival/carnival/general outdoor summery goodness pictures cos i think we need one. i saw loads b-grrrlie posted in the family album and i have shatloads from my weekend, too. there's too many pictures of people other than my good self so i don't think they really warrant the 'alb so here goes:

okeydokey. this sunday was the glasgow west end festival (a carnival type affair, only cheaper and smaller and, uh, in the west end of glasgow. which is where i live) and the glasgow mela (a music/dance/arts festival celebrating south east asian cultural isht) and i went along with my camera. prepare for lots of boring crowd shots. i've tried to limit it, honest!

okeydokey. so my day started off going for a picnic with the weekend/evening staff who i work with at glasgow university library at 1130AM! asti in the morning! WOOH! the festival parade was starting at 3pm, but we headed off on down to byre's road [the main street in the w.e.] to catch all the other cool isht happening. namely, this band called orkestra del sol! here they are! they played really, really superb "baltic brass beats" or gypsie polkas or whatever you wanna call it. the accordian/percussion dude was also extremely hot. see: hot! (http://www.orkestradelsol.co.uk/changing-accordions.jpg) but seriously, check out their myspace (http://www.myspace.com/orkestradelsol) and see what i'm talking about. they made me smile constantly! i'm totally booking them for any, uh, weddings i plan to have. children love them too. my boyfriend was like "they're so totally not from eastern europe" and i'm like "pft of course they are! they look postively brought up on potatoes and outdoor work!". they are from edinburgh.

i got some sangria and isht and then the parade started. what a curious beast glasgow is. for some reason there were a lot of people dressed as fruit (some healthy eating group, i discovered later). the carrot one is my favourite!:

after the parade i follow the samba beatz, man, down to kelvingrove park where everyone was lying in the sun, ehm, drinking and getting burnt. and listening to the carnival music. i spend all afternoon with the best looking bunch of men that are all, sadly, gay. fecking poofters!

yeah, the shoes were pretty sweet. they were sold out in every other size apart from mine so i thought that was a good omen. i am actually entertaining the idea of getting the same style in all colours - black and white. silly or a wise colour-matching choice? hehe.

just got back from the belladrum festival, aka the tartan heart festival. lineup here (http://www.tartanheartfestival.co.uk/2006/) in case you think i'm making it up, like mickill. set in the lovely scottish highlands in a place called beauly. i mainly went because my flatmate (scott of above emo combover fame) was playing there (the cinematics) and could get in with a guest pass with access to porcelain toilets. also the thought of actually getting to touch and stroke lee scratch perry, who was on stage right after scott. anyway, here's some pics. i dinnae want this thread to die!

wow, it looks like a cool festival, and I was kinda pissed off I couldn't go at first, but seeing all that mud makes me glad my friends didn't have any money to go. I hope you still had a good time eventhough you were cold and wet for most of it.

Is it anything like the Lowlands festival, atmosphere wise? I can't wait to go there this year. Last year was amazing eventhough the line-up was so-so and this year line up is truely stunning. It's going to be SO good.

Ah, The 'plastuit'. Another great thing the Dutch have invented.
A couple of years ago at Lowlands these things were being introduced and there were special pink urinals so the ladies could give them a try.
I must say they really do come in handy when there are no proper loos available or the ones available are dirty and you'd rather not place your bottom on it.
