Okay, so we all know that the Beastie Boys have made some of the greatest, most hilarious, most creative music videos in the history of music videos. So with that in mind, are there any songs that they have done that you would have liked to see a music video be made for? And do you have any ideas on what the concept for the music video would be?
I have quite a few songs I wish they did music videos for. Off the top of my head:
"Get It Together": This is at the top of my list. I SO wish there was a music video for this song. I would have love to see what the Beasties AND Q-Tip would come up with. With Q-Tip and all three Beastie Boys working together, I'm sure the video would have been ill.
"Flute Loop": For some reason, I would have liked to see a music video for this song. I guess it's because I saw a music video of these three guys lip synching this song on YouTube. I think it would be best if they did it like the "Sure Shot" video and just have them rap in California, but they would all be wearing the blue suits and ties from the "Root Down" album cover. Just how I always pictured it in my mind.
"Finger Lickin' Good": This I would just have as them performing, because there's never been a music video made with just Mike D and MCA rapping. And also, people could see Adrock's skills on the turntables (that is him doing the scratching on the song right?).
"Girls": Yeah, the song is sexist, but it's also really goofy. So I imagine the video would be over the top goofy. I'd have Adrock renact what he raps about in the song, with Mike D and MCA following him in the background doing the "Bum, Bum, Bum, Bum, Bum, Bum." And have someone carry around a small casio keyboard to play the beat with a really cheesy smile on his face. Maybe add in the giant inflatable penis from the Licensed To Ill tour in the video.
"Boomin' Granny": Come on! This NEEDED a video, DAMN IT! It's too funny to not have a video made for it. I don't care if they do it cheap with a video camera like in the "Hold It Now, Hit It" and "Jimmy James" videos. I imagine Mike D and Adrock doing some chereographed dancing while singing the chorus a'la The Backstreet Boys, and there would be a bunch of old ladies dancing as best as they could behind them. Mike and Adrock would serenade the old ladies and at the end, Mike D and Adrock would be mobbed by all the old ladies while having smug expressions on their faces, as if they were saying, "Yeah. These ladies love us. What do you have?"
"Skills To Pay The Bills": The cartoon intro for the Skills To Pay The Bills video is PERFECT! If only they had expanded on it, and did the whole "Skills To Pay The Bills" music video like that. Maybe add in some real life footage of the Beastie Boys rapping in Central Park. It'd be like the "Shadrach" video, but with cartoons instead of French impressionists paintings.
"Paul Revere": Oh man. How did a music video NOT get made for this song? The concept for the video is RIGHT THERE. Just have the Beasties reenact everything that happens in the song and PRESTO. You have your video. "Paul Revere" is a pretty popular Beastie Boys tune, so I'm sure the music video for it would have been pretty well received. I'm still pissed we never got a music video for this song.
All right, I'm done now. Now it's your turn!
