So, I've spoken to you all before about my landlord, and the drunk, bearded man (which I was pretty much "PWNED" for stereotyping) living where our landlord once resided. It really has nothing to do with this situation, except, since he hasn't mowed the lawn (as promised) or ATTEMPTED at doing any other form of yard/house work, someone (neighbors, possibly) contacted the city.

Well, an inspector for the city arrived today. Since my mom wasn't home at the time, he asked about our "landlord", as well as the other tenant living in the upstairs apartment. He asked if the other tenant had any other means of getting into/out of the house. I explained he has only one door. The inspector then told me he would have to move IMMEDIATELY considering it is an ILLEGAL apartment (due to only having one door and living on the third).

He went on... Asked about the landlord, asked how long we've lived here (8 years). Basically, through what he had implicated, the house will more than likely be condemned, meaning, we'll have to move. But not until AFTER the inspection of wiring, plumbing, all that.

I'm stressed. He wants to have the house inspected by the end of this week. Although we all work, we live by paycheck-to-paycheck alone. To move would cost us a LOT.

I also found out today that I do NOT have cancer (thankfully), but will be needing surgery. I've large ovarian cysts which need to be removed ASAP. Again, no insurance and little money to pay for the procedure.

We have pets. We love and treat them as our own. We would never want to give them up, but it's a possibility we may have to. :(

Anyone else been in this situation before? Any info, tips, something?

Well, I got kicked out of the last place I lived in along with 3 roomates for partying too hard.

Didn't help that the townhouse we lived in was flanked by senior citizens. I think this really has next to nothing to do with your situation, but what the heck :D

Anyways, good news about the cancer. Not having it that is!

for the surgery, you should do it, but for the bill you should:

a. call the hospital and see if you can do a monthly payment plan
b. afterward, if the hospitals plan is too high of a payment per month, get a loan to pay it off, then make small payments to the loaner
c. moneymanagement.org will help consolidate debts for free via contracts made with each bill collector to get low monthly payments, if need be

hope that helps that end of it.

shit, that sucks. when I broke my foot and needed surgery, I had insurance, but it didn't cover everything so I owed like $20,000. I applied for poverty status, submitted my financial information, yadda yadda, basically just saying there was no way in hell I could ever pay for it all. and like that, POOF! it was erased.

so, check laws and such. you might have to check out a women's health clinic or something for low income people. stuff's around, it's not the best probably, but there are usually options. you'd probably have an easier time applying for this stuff independently if you can, so they don't count your families income.

good luck (y)
