2 years since I discovered Beastie Boys by downloading Ch-Check it Out illegally on eMule, then RRNN, then Interglalactic... After that, I have buy "To the 5 Boroughs" and after, all Beasties cd and dvd coming from all the countries that i found, because... it had become my favourite group...
In my life I bought only Beastie Boys' cds...Thanks to eMule to have discover me this group...
Sorry for my english

I remember hearing TT5B for the first time. Smooth beats, slick rhymes and Mix Master cuttin' on a dime.

I've only truely started to appreciate it recently. I think I was the same way with Pauls Boutique. I popped it in the CD player thinking it was LTI part 2 and when it wasn't I put it on the shelf. But right now TT5B is in my car stereo.

i remember being all exited and thrilled that the Beastie Boys were finnally going to have a new cd out, and hearing the tracks a few days early on the mtv website. I was loving it. Now we are back to where we started. Waiting for new tracks to come out.

If you introduced somebody to the Beastie Boys via TT5B, do you think that person would consider the Beasties overrated?
It's interesting that a pile of really smart Board members past and present got into the group through that album.

Yeah I think that's cool. I've loved TT5B since my 2nd or 3rd listen, so for 2 years basically, but I wouldn't have played it to people as an album to see if they can appreciate the Beasties, so in other words KP...I think people would think they were kinda overrated on the strength of TT5B.
But all my friends I know who got into the Beasties with TT5B thought it was fucking ace, mainly cos they saw hip hop - at the time - as 50 Cent and Eminem. Sure, they knew their 'old school' classics (the Fight For Your Rights, the Walk This Ways), but Ch-Check It Out blew many people I know away. And the album is loved by those friends aswell.
I actually think the Beasties will have their work cut out with their next 'comeback' single, with regards to topping Ch-Check It Out which was really well recieved; over the net, on the radio etc

yo i went back to school at wagner college in 2003 and had to take summer courses to graduate and was still living in the dorms at age 25. i worked at quiksilver in times square and we had one of those midnight meetings and i just got up and walked out and went to virgin records and 46th st at midnight to be the first to pick it up. i didnt get to listen to it until 4 am when i got back to staten island and stayed up all night listening to it over and over again. i have so many good memories of that album that summer it never came off my mix. i didnt have an ipod yet so i put it on my mini disc player. just wanted to get that memory out. i miss everyone on SI and for some reason have this huge urge to put it on today, cant believe its been over 2 yrs now. damn im getting old.

I never post. I lurk, but wanted to login to say 'Happy Birthday' to a great album. I think of the Beasties as the soundtrack to my life and this disc started a whole new chapter.
Thanks! (y)
