But anyone hear do any science, specifically physics, at university?

I have got in (depending on my grades) at liverpool and leister to study physics. I'm planning to do a 4 year course which includes a year of project work (basically i have to expiriment and find something out no-one has found before). Hopefully i want to go into research - maybe into industry - and spend my life doing physics kind of stuff. Maybe specialising into nuclear and atomic science! At uni i get to work on building space ships and stuff

Just wondering? Has anyone done anything similar? Any tips? Taaaaaaaar :D

Nope, but I was good at it and could have done it at Uni if I didn't hate school and shit. Err, that's no help. Good luck.

hehehe! thanks. I know what ya mean though, i hate school too. My teachers were ace and all. But the whole school system and politics and the fact my head teacher was a total wanker didn't help.

I did a science degree, but it was biochemistry not physics, and yeah its fucking gay. that is all.

yeahh maaaaan!! (y) \m/

same plans here, or becoming a toxicologist. i'm still in high school tho'. the school i'm going to this fall is near a nuclear power station damnit. and the school is specialized in such.

Ooo! That sounds great! My school specialises in crap like making cakes and stuff. Tis the way to go, looking at the fundimental makeup of the universe.

my exbf was a fuckin physics genius. he went into mechanical engineeringand mathematics and now he has a fantastic job and all that good stuff:)

Awesome! Yeah, i hear you can get into nearly any job with a degree in it. But i'm going into it for love and because its what i'm good at. I hope to get a decent job though too :p

physics is where it's at, so many opportunities

I have a best buddy who is starting his pHd this fall already, in edmonton actually

he did his masters on the study of vortex properties in super fluids

he is hands and penises down the smartest person I know

I know! you have to have some shizzle to be able to do it. i have got A's (probably) at A level and am in at uni which is a start. Fingers crossed i'll make it. I have the determination so i'm ok :)

I know i'm gonna make it (y)

Nice one, I had good Physics and Science A levels but was persuaded to do a Mechanical Engineering Degree instead of pure physics (which is what I realy wanted to do).

Mech Eng sucked major ass so I switched to Economics which was a good move but always regret not being a full on physics geek. I read it in my free time now,

I still hope to work at CERN one day.......

Anyway I think if you have a calling to physics you should persure all out - physics jobs dont nessecarily pay great but physicists are always sought after in non science business because they are so smart.

Thanks! Yeah, i want to work at CERN! hehehe! It would be pretty amazing! I'm gonna see how i do, i hope in the end i can do a post graduate course. Everyone seems to be doing astrophysics, so i have a good chance of getting in too apparently. Fingers crossed :)
