not my money, company money. i just stuffed sealed and stamped 150 envelopes. i think i have arthritis now. maybe i can go out on disability. that would be ironic, because i work for a disability insurance company

fascinating stuff, i know. what's the most the rest of you have spent on postage at one time?

I once dropped almost $150 on postage when I was mailing out scripts. A friend picked up the photocopying charges, though -- that was the hefty part.

nooooooooottttt at all, but i honestly don't mind. i have a super high tolerance for boredom. ever since i had a job when i was 17 sitting at the top of the chairlift, and my sole job was to sit and watch people get off and press a button when the fell. i wasn't allowed to leave for my entire shift, not even to go to the bathroom. whenever the ski patrol came up, i had to wave to show i was paying attention. sometimes i had to work 9 hour shifts

i think that job kinda broke something in my brain, ever since then i've been able to tolerate doing repetitive tasks for money. i get paid ok, so i don't really mind doing it.

they continue to raise the price of postage and yet the post office is completely ineffective at delivering the mail. like where the fuck is the mail man today? shit they use to come by 11 am now sometimes they don't show up til 3pm, which is really crappy for a business like us who is waiting on checks or paperwork that needs to be sent over to the east coast. by the time it gets here now the east coast office is closed.

also why does it take more than a month to return mail to us that has been incorrectly addressed?

I could go on and on. but I really think we need to tell the post office to go fuck themselves. we can do almost everything by phone, fax, email or wire transfer. fuck them wanting to raise postage another 50 cents. fuck them not deliverying the shit properly or on time. fuck the us post office they suck donkey balss.

You're right. If they don't get themselves ahead of the curve a bit, they're going to find themselves keeping company with Kodak and Blockbuster.

Mail is such a hassle...

I sent a letter a while back that just didn't get there. About a month later it showed up at this girl's house with a notice that there wasn't enough postage and she owed the office like 25 cents.

I thought they just didn't deliver mail when there wasn't enough postage, but apparently I can just 'mail collect' now.

I think the postal system is pretty darned nifty, and usually quite a bargain.

There's something very, very cool about getting a letter or card written by hand -- especially these days. And to get that letter from here to there in a few days for pennies is sweet.

I hate bulk mail and wish we didn't have to get THAT, but otherwise, mail is a joy.

Trivia: who was the only postmaster to operate the post office at a profit during his or her tenure?

I like getting stuff in the mail other than bills. What are stamps up to now 39 cents?

Yeah. They're proposing another hike, too.

I don't know why they don't just bite the bullet and make it, say, fifty cents now. By the time they get a couple-cent raise approved, it's already too little.
