I read a lucid dreaming book called Teach Yourself to Dream (http://search.barnesandnoble.com/booksearch/isbnInquiry.asp?z=y&isbn=0811816281&itm=2) by David Fontana. I don't recall learning much from it, but it did outline the background and related research reasonably. The instructions, I thought, weren't thorough enough, but maybe it's a good starting point. I think the best part about the book was that it was beautifully illustrated.

The book titled "Exploring the World of Lucid Dreaming" by LaBerge is supposed to be the defining piece to read, although its format tends to be offputting to a lot of people. It's solid text, no pretty pictures. :)
