Awesome: i f@#%ing shot that! (doco)
the idea is neat: the Beastie Boys decided to give 50 concert-goers Hi8 cameras to document their Madison Square Garden concert. The result is a free-flowing, hyper-edited pastiche of sight and sound, real and unreal, and the occasional bathroom break. Itís a lot of things, but it stays true to the title: it is awesome. why is this the 134th thread ive started about a movie/movie festival this year? because luna leederville is throwing another screening party and i'm helping them out again.
if you went to the opening night of dave chappelle's block party, you know that parties at luna go off. we literally ran out of booze last time and the screening raised the roof. were doing it again for this beastie boys concert doco. the difference is this time the movie screens twice only! once at the party and again in a few months for the monday double (with block party). get yo ass down to luna for this. be warned. the last party sold out pre sale so get down to luna stat if you want to join the madness.

if you want to go i suggest getting presale, dressing warm, coming early to buy a few drinks before the free loot gets handed out (it gets a bit mad) and bring friends!

luna outdoor cinema is next to luna leederville :)
yeah you have to buy the tickets from luna directly
its the cost of a regular movie ticket.
the snacks at luna are cheaper than regular cinemas too (y)
i'd say get tickets asap, as the dave chappelle block party sold out a few days in advance, and everyone had such a good time at that it has a good rep now. although i think block party would be more populat than AIFSH

Yauch did a phone interview for triple J (nice one), and it was playing as I got into the car to go to work. Standard stuff; "Why does it take so long between albums?", "What are the other two doing?"....Was impressed that they wanted Australia to know. I'll go now.

yeah i was listening to jjj as mel was saying that yauch was going to be on, alas i can't listen to radio at work, and by the time i got to work i figured there wasn't much point in telling anyone on here that yauch was going to be on due to time difference.

maybe, if i get my hands on some cash before tickets sell out. i spent all my money in sydney and i don't get paid until the 1st, which is a saturday, so i really get paid on the 3rd, but its by cheque, so it will clear by the 6th - the day before the movie :(

kinda sucks you cant buy tickets, you have to enter, but my friend thinks jjj comps are easy to win. get your friends to enter too, or something.
anyway i will be attending the screening at luna next week as the very, very nice promoter is giving me tickets. (y)

you can buy tickets to the monday double (block party and awesome) (date: TBA)
you cannot (as far as i know) buy tickets to the july 19 screening (don't know what venue). i dunno, maybe they will release tickets for this. but you can buy the dvd one day later... so i recommend going to the july 7 screening at luna :) pizza, beer, beasties and me. what have you got to lose :p
ok so.. if i go to luna and buy tickets BEFORE the 7th for that screening... that's alright?
what the fuck!? that IS next week :confused:
and it's on a friday *cries*

awesome, Adelaide screening. Shame I don't have any Beastie loving or even liking friends, and they always bitch about movies when they're watching them too, so I think this'd be a nightmare movie to take them to. Goddamn. Might just wait for the DVD, not far away.

I guess so, which is kinda lame of me, but like I said if it was being screened normally I'd just go alone one nght (did that with Dave Chappelle's Block Party) but this is a one off screening so it seems like more of an event/party where rocking up on your own would be weird, if that makes sense. Like I said, I'll see what happens :p
i'm about 80% certain to coming ;) miss_bhaven might tag along and join me.
won't drink too much though. might get my ticket on monday or tuesday.

What happened?
i was gonna go with rach, but she can't get her folks' car. they're going to the coldplay concert. that's fair. i don't like troubling my mates for lifts to things that'll benefit me only anyway.
it would've been the most crazy weekend if i went anyway. movie starts at quarter to 11? probably will end past midnight. i got work 7am - 5pm on saturday AND i'm going out to celebrate two of my good mates' birthdays that night.

ok!
well i had fun :)
got there early but it wasn't open yet. stood around in a crowded bar.
then - open! yay! snagged myself a large piece of pizza (it was good) and a little creatures bright ale. more pizzas came along and i grabbed another slice, since the free beer had run out anyway.
was near the beginning of the line, but my friends had to go to the toilet and i didn't feel like reserving 5 seats so we got in a bit late and ended up at the back on the left hand side.
bad seats because the speaker behind us didn't appear to be emitting any noise, it seemed like all the sound was coming from the front. guy in the row in front of me kept yelling for volume. after time though, i didn't notice the lack of sound. either it got turned up or i was too busy enjoying the film? doco? filmed concert? to notice :)
it was much better than i expected :) great editing. nice use of the screen with all 50 shots. small amusing moments. mixmaster mike is a) hot; and b) a god. I LOVE HIM! MARRY ME MIXMASTER MIKE!
i didn't leave the cinema once. loved it. so glad i got to see it on the big screen. will def. be buying the dvd.

The speakers in that place made it sound like Rolf Harris was playing the Wobble Board during the second half of Root Down.
I fucking loved that film, but the sound (at Luna, yeah, hire a new sound crew for music films) let it down hugely.(n)
Owning the DVD will make everything better.
