Am I the only one that hates this song? The Beats suck and the rhymes are bad. Just got "LTI" and at first I tried it but now I just skip it.

Dope song that I enjoyed a lot when they did it live in '98. Various shows.

Posse in effect is the "Catch a Groove" break by Juice. That's a classic hip hop break. That's one of my favorite cuts off LTI too.

You do know LTI came out 20 years ago, right? Your timing is a bit off.

He probably just discovered them. When I did I bought them in this order:

To The Five Boroughs
Licensed To Ill
Ill Communication
Hello Nasty
Paul's Boutique
Check Your Head

Now that's just all mixed up. :p

I dont really care to much for the new live posse in effect at the shows. I like the original on LTI the best.

It's oldschool, it's from their first album...

yeah, i know their discography very well, trust me. but what i mean is that we all think Beastie Boys are oldschool, but in fact they are middleschool hip hop... or am i mistaken? are beastie boys oldschool or middleschool finally?
of course this song is the oldschool Beasties, but when we talk about the whole hip hop stream - BB are representing the middle school, sorry if i didn't express myself coherently

Punk in the hall - man I should of oughtta hit him
Had the fresh rhymes and the kid cold bite 'em

I'm a Def Manhattan killer - a rhyme driller
A mike in my hand and a mouth full of Miller

^^ in my top 5 for sure

I travel around the globe - it's keeping girlies dizzy
My name's Mike D. - now watch me get busy y'all

My posse's in effect and we're doin' the do

People consider them oldschool hiphop...

yea since LTI was the first hip hop album to go #1:cool: but if u really think about it they are middle skool(y) but most people say 80's is old skool, 90's is middle skool and 00's is new skool:D

Chicka B

Technically, they are middle school. Oldschool is from 1970-1986 I think, and Middleschool or Golden age is from 1986-1993. Besides, Adrock's representing it:

Middle school rapper and a proud yes y'aller- Adrock, Now Get Busy

From the Middle school I'm an educated rapper- Adrock, Squat

That's cool, I did my research paper on hip hop so...my teacher was surprised. I listen to all music except country. :o

I LOVE Posse In Effect!! The beat after "My name is Mike D now watch me get busy y'all" I always have to do some funky dance move and people look at me like wtf? :D

Some country is alright, most of the new country out right now is junk though, it's become too much like Pop music.

I never got into it, but it's all my aunt/uncle and their 5 kids listen to, haha. Well, Country Mike is an exception. I don't wanna diss a whole genre, I'm sure there's some country out there I might like. Is the Beastie Boys the only Hip Hop you listen to, or do you consider them Hip Hop? Because one of my friends listens to rock only and she loves LTI. I think it's weird because that's reeaally hip hop. :p

^ That's ok, gangster rap is not healthy to listen to. :p I like oldschool mostly but if I look there's good stuff out there that's new. Mostly the new stuff that sounds oldschool, haha. (y)

Hold on everybody, let me consult my hip hop handbook. . . Okay, it says here they're from the "jewschool". So, I guess that answers it.
