my roommates have been complaining about the shower valve handle falling off all the time and I just witnessed it myself while rinsing something out in the tub, so I took a look at it and realized it just needed a bit of tightening with an allen wrench, so I fixed it.

however, my problem is, when we try to get a medium temperature of water, the valve doesn't allow as much pressure as it would if it were all hot water, or all cold.

does anybody know how to fix this? or maybe I could just turn down the temp of the water heater, so we can turn the valve more to the hot side without scalding ourselves?

maybe I should find a plumbing board.

I made a thread about it on the bob vila messageboard. hee hee.

thanks cmute. I was gonna try to pry off the face plate of the valve thingy to check things out, but I don't want to fuck anything up since we rent. I have a feeling that whoever installed it in the first place just did a shitty job and/or picked the lowest end valve you could find. maybe it doesn't fit correctly or something, because this building is pretty old and the pipes might be farther apart or some shit. I dunno. I'm not a plumber. I am mechanically inclined though.
