Here's our version of the "Pass the Mic" video and the background behind the making of it:
After becoming friends at the University of Maryland -- and bonding over our common love for the Beastie Boys -- we would often talk of putting together our own video tribute to them. In the summer of 1996, after literally years of talk, it finally became a reality. Thanks to some great contacts in the television business, we were able to create a quality vid that -- we hope -- represents the B-Boys properly.
On a sweltering August day, we had our shoot at the same place that brought us together in the first place -- the University of Maryland. We knew exactly where all of the scenes would be shot and we went to work. We shot 3 different scenes (in two of those locations, we shot the video twice). In all, it took about 30 hours to produce & edit.
All of the outfits we wore were picked out in advance, and we even donned some winter-like gear just to mix it up a bit. Of course, we had to feature some obscure stuff in the vid as well -- keep an eye out for the random cutaways, including one that features one of the ladies wearing the VW emblem.
In the end, we agreed that the coolest thing about our "Pass the Mic" video was that our individual personalities come out during the shoot. Believe us: for one day we thought we really were AdRock, Mike D, and MCA. And we give thanks for their inspiration.....
Enjoy!!!

This is very good and shows that the 30 hours were worth it. You should sell it to some TV channel lol.

Good shit.... If others had the capabilities to pull that off, it could make for a cool "VideoTribute DVD".....:D

That's not half bad. I like buddmonkey's idea, too. I would think this video would be a good one to go on said DVD.

First of all, you're an idiot! If you could read, you would realize that video was shot 10 years ago! Hairstyles do change, you know? Also, since when does someone's hairstyle dictate the type of music they should listen to? That's a true sign of ignorance. Something that me, the Beastie Boys and likely everyone else on this board are strongly against.
Second, yes...we are white and we were just having fun making this video. I didn't hear you say one thing about the actual video...you only criticized the way we looked.
Third..I think your name is "Stan". And just 5 years ago, you wrote your favorite "white" rapper a fan letter.
Fourth...see above!!
