Head to head, which do you prefer? If you are not sure, which album do you skip the least songs on when listening to?

Damn.......people should stop making threads as This x That or whats the best..... or whats your prefered..... on the general beastie discussion.

This type of thing leaves to nowhere.

But ok......Hello Nasty (y)

What is "leaves to nowhere" mean Capt. Smartenstein?

This poll is valid. The last 2 albums are vastly different. HN has the variety, TT5B is new old school classic. I like hip hop. People seem to really love HN, but for me, as great as it is, the variety is all over the map, so there are a bunch of songs I skip every listen. Now TT5B is hip hop. I like hip hop, I listen to it more for the say it with me hip hop. I thought it would be interesting to compare the 2 most recent albums, as they are so different. I was clearly wrong.

So, back to the Mike D is cool because....he has a D after the Mike threads.

Anyways, I don't own either album but from what I've heard from each album I prefer Hello Nasty.
What album do you own?

ps: haha, let's make CYH vs. IC! that would be a challenge!

I'm surprised that that many people like HN better.

Oh and sorry the thread wasn't all that enlightened. It certainly can't compare to a thread discussing the tragedy of sock-sleeping, right Junker?(y)

"I got mad yesterday cause I was watching something at tv and ended up sleeping in the sofa. But I slept wearing my socks. And I fucking hate when this shit happens. I felt irritate if there´s something on my feet when i sleep. Its almost the same feeling i have when someone wakes me." - Junker

Hope I didn't make ya felt irritate again. You sexy bitch ;) You are good at bed.

I didn't even read this thread but I will say Hello Nasty is flawless and among my top ten albums of all time.

5 Boroughs, while technically not a bad album- was a huge disappointment considering it was the six-years-in-the-making follow up. That don't mean it's not in heavy rotation for me.

It just caught me off guard that such an overproduced album was followed by such an under produced album.

So, to answer your question- HELLO NASTY.

I think that answers my quandry.: It seems to be about production and a little bit of style preference. If you like it thick you prefer Nasty, like it basic = prefer TT5B.

I'm just surprised that's all. HN is good, but not imo classic. I'm a PB and 5B person myself.

TT5B.
haha. Yeah, I'm one of the few people who listens to TT5B as a kind of 'Black Album' deal. I like it, still. Easily in my Top 50, cause who else got 6 deep, and made it into my Top 50?:D

actually i skip the least songs on tt5b, but i prefer hello nasty, so uh...i chose hello nasty only because i couldn't choose between the two

some days i'm hn/tt5b...some days i'm ic/pb....and other days i'm lti/cyh....so yeah....there you go.

Yeah. I mean, I don't really have a preference between these 2 records. As far as I'm concerned with the Beastie Boys there's 6 quality albums over along period of time, so I like to enjoy them each - when the time is right - as opposed to comparing.

But yeah by itself I rate TT5B in my top 50 most def

I absolutely love the messages being put out there by the boys on the 5 Boroughs, so this was a very tough call.

I ended up chosing Hello Nasty though. Lyrically, not as MANY strong messages as TT5B but it was just SO different musically, and I loved all the experimenting and at the time that album woke up my soul (y) still does.

Hello Nasty--I love Song for Junior and I Don't Know so, so much.

However, I like the timing of TT5B and the way some of its songs were clearly intended to unite and get people to think given the climate. It was also the precursor to the tour and that tour spawned AIFST and that's all been great.

Hello Nasty!

their rhyme scheme is much more diverse and the instrumentals are great

I think HN was the last album that they devoted their lives to. TT5B seems like it was done on the side over a long period of time. I love both albums, but HN just has more soul to it.

Yeah, they really captured the whole feeling of 2004, like you could be positive, goof around and still be angry at a situation that seemed changeable.

This IS like a trick question! Because I skip less songs on TT5B then on HN. The reason I skip more songs on HN is because sometimes I feel like listenin to the hip hop stuff on that album, and sometimes the experimental stuff. But when ever I listen to TT5B I gotta listen to the whole thing! It's a hard decision on which I like better though. Because I LOVE TT5B because they flow so well on it and I love the beats. It's just straight up hip hop the way I like it, and they send a good message. But I love HN because it's just so diverse and all the songs are so fun! I like every song on that album, but they're all so different. It just seems a lot more musically, I guess because there's so many things they covered on it. And I love the weird spacey vibe of it. Well I chose Hello Nasty just because you can tell they worked harder on it and it's one of my favorite albums. Even though I've been listenin to TT5B more lately. :D This is evil, I hate to compare any BBoy's albums against eachother because I like them for different reasons. But it's a pole so I have to vote.

Take away the filler on "Hello Nasty" and you have perhaps one of the greatest Hip Hop albums of all time. I hope to GOD their next album follows that pattern.

Hello Nasty definitely stayed perkier, but has much larger nipples.
