So Star Jones got booted off the view. as for why this is the statement from Barbara Walters:
"Walters didn't discuss on the air why Reynolds, an original cast member who's been on the show for nine years, wasn't being asked back. She said in an interview Tuesday that research showed audience members were turned off by Reynolds' dramatic weight loss and glitzy wedding to banker Al Reynolds in 2004."
Now personally I don't watch the show, and I really have no opinion on Star's personality or anything like that. what I do want to comment on is that to some degree you just can't win in hollywood. Basically what this says to me is this woman had to endure critisim for being overweight ( I remeber people talked and joked quite a bit about her weight), and yet the audience rejected her because she lost the weight.
her bragging about her stupid mega expensive wedding, well I can see how people would be turned off by that. most people don't like to hear about rich people throwing money around. but the weight thing is such a double standard. were gonna critcize you if you're fat, and if you get too skinny well we don't like that either. what gives people? what gives?:(
that crap has been on for 9 years?!

lol. yeah. but we didn't critize Oprah for loosing weight or take away her tv show.
I'm sure there a lot more to this whole thing than just the weight issue. it's just interesting to me that the media research found the shows demographic was turned off my her weightloss. you'd think they would have said good for her.

i think it's because most people see her as insane.
maybe the only thing about her that was interesting was the fact that she was fat. if she's boring and average looking, who cares? who would watch that?
i dunno, i don't watch the view. i once said "the view" out loud, and i got bored, so i definitely don't watch it.

star jones is a fuckin bitch though. shes evil mean to her assistants (one of whom i knew), she's evil to people who serve her (also, i knew a person who was in that unfortunate position), she's not a polite person. it's like no one taught her please and thankyous. and she's ugly. no amount of weight loss would take that away from her.

see I figured it has to be more of a personality thing than just that fact that people were turned off by her weight loss. but I guess I also know nothing about hw she lost the weight. did she have a crazy surgery? ( I know she had her boobies fixed cause they sagged)
my whole point in this thing is that i find it unusual for people to be turned off by and overweight person getting skinny. it's usually the opposite. unless she's like all full of herself and a bigger bitch because now she thinks she's hot.

I saw a photo of Star Jones and I would not have recognized her had I not read the caption. I didn't know she lost weight. I wonder if it'll stay off or if she'll Oprah.

Something I noticed is the glaring omission in not only in the initial post, but most replies of the adjetive "dramatic" in regards to her weight loss. Keep in mind that Star was pretty much an unknown before the show and the whole initial concept was to take normal women and get them in a room to hear opinions. Star filled the professional lawyer slot, although I don't know much of her law career before or since the view but I get the idea it was her skills under the bar, not from her bar exam that got her the job. But that's another discussion...
Anyways, the idea was to have opinions from a variety of perspectives that the everyday viewer could relate with. The comedian, the mom, the journalist, the young woman, and the professional woman. I don't think most daytime viewers care about the opinions of a rich snob who buys her happiness. Star has a now well documented case of being a total bitch to people around her, and an audience can be fickle when someone they made famous and wealthy turns on them. With her outrageously snobbish demands on wedding gifts, and then topped by her "paying" for her new look with excessive plastic surgery and god knows what else, she alienated the audience.
So it's not about her not being able to win in show biz as it were due to her size or her race, it's about her changing who she fundamentally is and paying the consequences for her greed.
I guarantee, had she lost the weight through a normal diet and excercise routine and didn't have the excessive surgery she not only would have been asked back, but her fame would have expanded exponentially.

thanks King Psy that brings it into better perspective. as i said I don't know much about her and I don't watch the show. Certainly there have been others in Hollywood who have had dramatic weightloss too and that didn't damage thier careers, so I had to wonder if it was something about the way in which she lost the weight that made people cringe or something else.

Seems there's a lot of drama to this story. So it was originally planned to give Star a good while before she would be asked to leave, giving her time to plug whatever her next job would be excessivly on the view and also the time to prepare.
So somehow she got wind of her impending doom on tuesday so she walked off on air it seems. Well yesterday my Dad was watching the view and a visibly irritated Barbara Walters was going off about how unprofessional Star's departure was and how disapointed she was.
Then last night Star made an appearance on Entertainment Tonight and started laying down accusations. So it seems this is far from over. I know someone is gonna make this about race and it's sad some people have to take it there when it's really irrellavant to the situation.

You obviously have no idea just how annoying this woman is.
And why do people immediately compare her to Oprah all the time?

i heard they wanted rosie o'donnell to be on the view, but she wouldn't agree unless star jones was gone because she feels like star is a liar about her weight loss. from what i could tell, star claims she lost the weight naturally and rosie claims it was too fast and too dramatic and the bitch should just fess up and say it was due to a stomach stapling surgery.
I wonder if it'll stay off or if she'll Oprah.
i want oprah to be a real verb.

^haha. I actually saw Rosie saying that on tv last night. she's all "if you come to a point where it's a medical problem and you determine that a medical procedure is what you need that's fine but to pretend like you lost it doing pilades that's just...delusional. but she's a former fatty so I still like her."
and then I saw starr of tv and her neck looks really strange.:(
