Everclear has a brand new album coming out in September, "Welcome To The Drama Club"...it has some good buzz about it so far in the press. Since the last album in '03, the drummer and bassist left on bad terms, and the lead singer Art Alexakis put a new band together. Same sound though...as he was the only one to ever sing vocals.
The new single is "Hater" and the video (http://www.ifilm.com/ads/asl/fullscreen/index.jsp?uri=http://www.ifilm.com/ifilmdetail/2746525?htv=12&pg=) is.....interesting. It's making alot of people mad, and alot of people laugh. Check it out :D

The song had to grow on me, but it took eventually. The song and the video don't mesh, but the video takes a risk. Good stuff (y)
And the new band sounds tighter than the old, if you ask me.

we play a fun game in the car whenever everclear comes on the radio - it's called "every single song of theirs sounds the same." try it!

If your Everclear experience consists of only the singles played on the radio, which I'm sure it does, then of course they sound the same. :p

I like Everclear (y)
The new song isn't life-changing but it's good, in my opinion.
i don't listen to them much, but i kinda like the song "so much for the afterglow".

Though they've made their fair share of Pop-ish songs (mostly the singles), I prefer their harder stuff. Their first two albums didn't venture into Pop territory whatsoever, then every album since has had a few lighter tracks ("I Will Buy You A New Life", "Everything To Everyone", etc.) with the harder stuff.

yep, world of noise was pretty flawless...obviously it's a bit low-fi but it really works well with that albums sound. then as you say they sorta just continue gettin a tad more polished (which is all reasonable) and putting in a few more poppier tunes.

Everclear has a very particular sound that makes lots of songs sound the same.. It's nice to have as a background tune or something though, I still listen to them every once in a while so I'm looking forward to seeing what the new album is going to be like.

The lead singer (Alexakis) has been quoted as saying the album is being toned down, and will probably only appeal to people in their 30's. But I've had a chance to hear some of the new songs, and I disagree. It's great stuff. I saw them live a few weeks ago, and got to chat with Alexakis a bit, he puts on a great show, and is one humble guy.
My personal favorite album is So Much For The Afterglow, its a perfect mix of hard rock, and well written pop songs.

These were alot of rumors going around. He lost alot of weight, so people accused him of being on drugs :p
Typical internet rumor.

I liked that song where they talked about the 70s. And "Everything Is Wonderful Now".
Oh, now that I think about it, their song from Antitrust wasn't that bad either.
Just thought of another one! "Father Of Mine". I like it even though I have a good relationship with my father.
Shit, another song popped into my head! I don't know the name, but it's the one with the cool sound effect throughout. It was released as a single and had a video. The one that went, "Da, Da, Da, Da. Da, Da, Da. Da, Da, Da, Da. Da, Da, Da."

I beleive thats "Everything To Everyone", that song introduced me to the band almost ten years ago, and remains my favorite track they've done :D

That video sucked pretty bad :(
I liked the Santa Monica and Volvo Driving Soccer Mom vids, but this one is kinda cheap. Just plain handcam quality :/

Everclear's not on a major label anymore, so the funding just wasn't there, hence the "cheap" feel to to video. But I liked the concept.
