ok, last night at the deen, i ordered a jagerbomb and a bottle of JDs+cola. i think the total was 18/19 bucks or something. i gave the chick (CUNT!) my last note in my wallet which was a 50. she gives me back coins and no notes... i ask where my notes are? she says i gave her a twenty, i say no i didnt, shes say yes you did and goes off and serves someone else. i say fuck it and have my shit...
ANYWAY, seeing as you work/sometimes manage your bar. could i have got my notes back from her if i asked to see a manager? what's the procedure for shit like that. i reckon she's pulled a fast one and scammed my money and would blame it on me being drunk and not knowing it was a 20 or a 50, she served me a couple of times before that too.
but yeah, fucking pissed me off heavily

I dunno what you can do. I do know that some cashiers (in all fields) like to put the note on the till, give the change, and then put the note away. That way if there's any dispute, they still have the note right there. I would've said something to the manager - she might be a repeat offender. Or maybe you really were just drunk and only had a 20 ;) Recount all the cash you spent - starting with how much you took out. I've thought I've been short changed before and done the sums and realised that I'd actually spent the money
it definately was a 50 because i had a 10, 20 and 50 and change from a 50, from which i bought a bottle of canadian club with, before i went into the club.
- bought JGbomb+JDs and coke with the 20 (coins change)
- jagerbomb with the 10 (no change)
- another jagerbomb with my coin change
so at this, i have the 50 and some coins left.. and yeah, that's that.
I work in a bar. When people say they've been short changed we take their name phone number and address. The till gets counted at the end of the night and if its over by that amount then we get in contact with them. Of all the times I've been accused of over charging someone the till has been fine at the end of the night.
Its pretty hard to be over charged and for us to not notice it though, with us anyway. If you hand me a 20 and I think its 10 then that means that I would of put the 20 in the £10 section of the till. If it isnt there then we're 99.9% sure it was the customers mistake.

You should have strated shouting indiscriminatley, and accused the bartender of being a prostiture.
Then maybe you could have thrown up.

yeah i thought this too - i'm a checkout chick and if i was to put a 50 dollar note in the 20 section, i'd notice it before i close the till. a 50 is bigger than a 20 and obviously a different colour. this is another reason why i was so pissed off... it's pretty fucking obvious to tell the different between this (http://www.rba.gov.au/CurrencyNotes/NotesInCirculation/_Images/20_front.jpg) and this (http://www.rba.gov.au/CurrencyNotes/NotesInCirculation/_Images/50_front.jpg)
hmmm... well, life goes on. fucking stooge. if anyone goes to the deen! don't get served by some brunette bitch called Riley.
It might sound a lot, but these are AUD, it's like monopoly money. Your probably lost about £5. Shit.

BAR FIGHT!
I didn't say you lived in England. I am just saying in real money you didn't lose much. Shit.
i consider 30 bucks 'much' especially if i'm getting ripped off of it.

$30 = about 20 standard non import beers = fairly significant loss

Tzar, if you complained loudly and vehemently enough, you would have got the money back. However, any argument from the staff would be pretty much based on the idea that they can't prove you handed over a 50, and therefore they would potentially be susceptible to everybody claiming to have been shortchanged. That's why they take details. The flaw with that is that somebody else could fuck the cash up, and your money would cover the short-fall.
This sounds wild square, but patrons should pay a little more attention, too. As long as you're absolutely sure about your money, you should by all means demand to see a manager. An industry standard would have most of those girls behind the bar being hired on looks, and generally little else. But that doesn't exempt you from potentially being the one who fucked up.
And never turn away after ordering your drinks, while the staff are waiting for payment. Fuckin pricks.

The fact that you left it well alone means you probably weren't sure of yourself. To the staff at least.

Yeah, re-reading it she probably pulled a fast one. I steal people's money often, if they're pricks, and I've gotten them legless.

i didn't not do anything about it. i did tell her about 3 or so times "no i definately gave you a 50". i was in a club so i was pretty much yelling at her anyway just so she could hear. it was just the fact she just walked off and served someone else - that's when i thought 'ah fuck this'.
there is no way it wasn't a 50 or i wasn't sure about myself. i know how to use my money in clubs and i know how to handle it. at the time, i think i left it alone because they could've just argued the fact that i was "drunk" and didn't realise it was 20 instead of a 50. we're talking about alcohol here.
"And never turn away after ordering your drinks, while the staff are waiting for payment. Fuckin pricks." i don't, hey. my mum (good ole mum) told me the first time i went out to just keep watching them when they make your drinks / go to the till. problem with that is, the till isn't in my view; their back is..
