Planned Parenthood is closed on Sundays. That really sucks.
I had to get it once about two years ago, but I can't remember how much it cost. I hope it's not a lot, I'm almost broke. Does anyone know?
Condom breakage is crappy :(
But super drunk sex is pretty awesome

I'm not 100% sure of what your talking about, but isn't it like 3 or 4 days until it's "too late". Once again, i don't know what your talking about.

It can be fun as long as your not TOO drunk but a "little tipsy" is GREAT!
To you Dandy----------> I have no clue because my method of B.C. involved a surgical solution. Sorry.

"At Planned Parenthood of North East Pennsylvania, the emergency contraception visit costs less than $60 (teen and low-income rate available). That includes the counseling, the pregnancy test, and the pills."
I don't know if it's the same where you are Dandy, but.. Yeah.

in California we get it for free depending on our income. I wish I lived closer to you, I have two packs of EC sitting around "just in case," be it for me or friends.
That has happened to me once during CHRISTMAS so trying to get EC was a nightmare.
I hope you get it soon.

I don't know for sure but I think in Michigan it is only free in cases of rape.

This chick I know needed to get the morning after pill and it cost her about $90... I think.
I don't know, I wasn't really that involved in the whole story, but I think that's the dollar amount she paid. I could also be horribly wrong, so what the hell do I know?

When I got EC, at the time I had medical insurance. I called my doctor and she filled out a prescription where I could just pick it up at the pharmacy. The pills weren't $90. Guess it just depends on your coverage.

there're pharmicist out there that refuse to give out EC becuase of "moral reasons". they seem to think EC is an abortion pill and don't realise it's just a really high does of normal birth control. i didn't know pharmicist could refuse perscribed drugs to people.

^Yeah, actually when I looked it up today I couldn't remember the words "emergency contraception" so I tried morning after pill, and the very first link is some website saying it's another form of abortion
It sucks because I found a list of birth control pills that you can take a high dosage of to have the same effect, but the ones that I have from when I used to take it, isn't recommended for that :( Dammit. I think I will take one anyway today untill I can get the pill tomorrow.

edit: oh I read closer and looks like you already found some info on this...
I'm not exactly advocating this method but regular birthcontrol pills can be used as emergency contraception. witha low dose pill you have to take 4 of the pills that contain the most estrogen. oseing youreself with so much estrogen will work the same way the morning afterpill will, but you can also expect not to feel to great. sideeffects are probably similar to the morning after. wouldn't try it if you have high blood pressure or are at risk for blood clots. I've have tried it and it worked for me. but I don'y recomend you try this without consulting your doc because you just never know, or in otherwords try at your own risk if you don't consult someone first..

some planned parenthoods or even regular gyn's will call in a pharmacy for you during their off hours if you call them and report it as an emergency to them. you know, call their beepers or cell if that's given over the answering machine, that kind of thing. sometimes, if you just leave a message, the doctor will check it before the end of the weekend.
really good to have: an extra prescription just in case. some doctors will even give you several extra prescriptions with year-long expiration dates. planned parenthood would definately do it.
good luck(y)

it costs about $30 a pop here.
i knew a girl who went to her doc so frequently to get it, he gave her a whole box of the shit. she told me that if i ever needed some, to come to her, so i could skip the doc's appointment.
but, now you can just get it over the counter from almost any pharmacy.
easy-as-pie.
where do you live?
Most places I know do not at ALL offer it over the counter. I didn't even know that happened anywhere...

I'm gonna have to agree with super-drunk sex sucking. Just because I need my concentration to get my swerve on, and I'm wayyyy too ADD when I'm drunk.
I had a freakout today too. I heard that sperm can live in your system for 3-5 days and I needed my pill today and I couldn't find them because my parents moved to NC yesterday and dumped off their excess crap at my place and stuff is impossible to find. Plus, since I just ordered my new pack 2 weeks ago, my insurance wouldn't cover another pack so soon. Plus I couldn't even get EC because they're all closed today until Wednesday for the holiday.
So I started to cry about how I couldn't find my pills and my brother was like "Why are you so upset? If you don't have sex in the next month, then you won't have a problem." And in my fragile state of mind, I yell back "NO! I can still get pregnant if I've had sex in the past week! I need my goddamn pills!" And then he called my parents to find out where it might be and told them "Diana needs her birth control, it's an emergency." Ah, god. Now my parents know I'm doin' it.(n)

I'm definitely not an advocate for drunk sex being the only sex, but it's been a few months since it was that crazy and funny. It's good because sometimes i feel a bit shy asking for certain things, or I don't know, doing it in a weird place in the apartment or something, but booze helps that along a little bit.
Though overall, just plain old awesome sex with the dude is the best :o

It is only available in India (totally on the forefront of birth control methods because of their overpopulation problem) but apparently you can order it online

i can't find a doctor that will give me an IUD. i've asked around. they say that because of my smallish frame, there's just too much danger in putting one in because 1) i haven't had kids yet so it probably wouldn't even fit in there (THAT'S THE DAMN POINT, I DON'T WANT KIDS YET), and 2) there's a very high possibility that it could rupture something if i moved the wrong way. even sneezed or coughed too hard. it'd puncture stuff that should not be punctured. :(
i'm considering the diaphram/cap route, but again, those work better for women that have already had kids. i really should get a prescription of that EC, though, just in case...sounds pretty scary when it happens.
DandyFop
07-04-2006, 10:14 AM
Yeah I think I should get another thing of EC just to have on hand...what I really should do is be on birth control plus condom usage, but I just hate having to take those pills. When I used to take them, I think it might have diminished my sex drive, and I really don't want that.
What is IUD?

in the uk you can buy from a pharmacy over the counter for £50 (about $92), if you are over 16.
but in most areas, actually most of england, it's free. local authority agreements.
i don't really agree with this. as i know of some fools who would use it as contraception per se, and totally ignore the "emergency" nature of it. it also puts silly 13 year olds off just shagging their boyfriend without a condom on for the craic if it's expensive.
of course, if you are a responsible adult who has had an accident, there are ways to get it free if you can bear waiting for an emergency appointment with your doctor/family planning clinic and getting him to write a wee prescription out.
the one & only time it happened to me (condom breakage!) it was a sunday and i couldn't be arsed with that shit so i just called nhs direct, they pointed me in the direction of a pharmacy nearby that sold it, i went along looking sheepish with a "but it was with the one and only man i've ever slept with and we've been together for five years, bitch don't give me that look" face.
