There's no comparison.

When it comes to dress, Spice Girls had more of a theme, costumes. Pussycat Dolls are just plain, ol' skanky. Not to mention their music blows milk enema.

Spice Girls = REMEMBERED (and still ADORED)

Pussycat Dolls = forgettable

but our culture is obssed with boy bands & girls bands especially in the 90's but really a big percentage of those bands don't write and some don't sing eithier!

Burlequse in it's simplist form involves dancing singing and stripping, though nipples must be covered (ie pasties or tape) and panties stay on. it's intended to be riskque' or "trashy". due to the fact that celebs like carmen electra, xtina agulara and christina applegate did guest performances in the show they gained notarity and then a band was formed. So unlike the spice girls the pussycat dolls came out of something else, a stage show.

I'm not saying they are awesome or anything i'm not that impressed with the music, but they weren't formed simply to be a girl group the way the spice girls were. and if you do some research on burlesque thier "skanky" outfits will make more sense to you.

not disagreeing with ya there Cos. nope. I think burlesque should remain a live show involving women who can sing and perform. I guess I'm also pointing out that I don't really see a comparison to the spice girls. and the trashyness is intentionally born of the burlesquse, not just a gimmick to sell records, though it does that too.

I love the art of burlesque! But in their "performance" as music "artists", I'm not seeing that art form. It's just regular, street corner skank.

except not one of the original pussycat dolls (burlesque group) is in the pussycat dolls ("music" group).

so really, they came from nothing.

i like both groups. they have catchy music i can sing too while doing the dishes.

main difference is in the spice girls they all sang. some songs featured more of some than other, but generally they all got a verse or a part in each song. they all had distinct "personas". they all danced, but the dancing was cute and it wasn't necessarily the focus.

pussycat dolls is one chick singing, same chick doing most of the backup vocals (not sure how "live" performances go). rest of the chicks are awesome dancers. i often wonder if they get sick of shaking their ass all day.

i bet the pussycat dolls won't have a movie :)
