someone assist me on this...am I supposed to get really sad and shit and mourn the loss of my hair like I would if a friend died?

my hair has been progressively falling out since late 2003 and other than the initial week or so after noticing where I thought "well that sucks" I really havent cared too much. If anything I kind of want it to speed up so I dont have to buzz it down so frequently.

I was sad because it started for me when I was 18. But it has moved hella slowly, so while I look like I'm balding, I'm far from bald. I just don't care, really.

I was going noticbly bald by 14. Other than not many girls wanting to date a balding guy in junior high and high school, I wasn't hugely concerned, plus I could buy alcohol without getting carded. By 19, I just started shaving it off altogether; turned out to be the best hairstyle for me, and I think it looks like I'm aging well. I think.

But, yeah -- some folks are REALLY uncomfortable with it, which strikes me as weird. It's usally always men -- they have to make a joke about it, or sush a child if the kid mentions it, as if it were "bad." But a lot of women like bald men, so -- cool.

Good thread. I've been wondering about something. I have an uncle that lives in Florida that I usually see twice a year if I'm lucky. He's always had a full, thick head of hair and the last time I saw him was under a year ago. He came up to PA a few days ago and is super bald. David Cross bald. I've always thought baldness was a natural progression, but it seems all his just flew off in a matter of months. I was thinking that maybe he had some health concerns or something. Is that natural?

A lot of guys--not all of them but a lot--look great without hair. I think Andre Agassi looks much better now (http://www.steveladner.com/corporate/images/Andre%20Agassi.jpg)than before (http://news.softpedia.com/images/news2/Andre-Agassi-And-Steffi-Graf-To-Own-A-Hotel-In-Idaho-2.jpg). Same with Jason Statham's before (http://www.orange.co.uk/images/editorial/generalarticle/entertainment/Celebs/Bad_lookalikes/revolver_imgnt_sep05_170.jpg) v. his current (http://www.wolfn8.com/jason/gallery/jason5.jpg).

I think it's a lot about being in good shape and a whole lot of it is about eyes and attitude. Warm eyes=great on a guy without a lot of hair. A bald or thinning guy looks like crap to me if he's assy or has a shit attitude and a lot of them are like that. I don't know why. Maybe overcompensation.

not necessarily. My old man went bald at 26. Started in June, was completely bald by August.

Some people point it out to me, which is dumb. Like I didn't know.

when my dad started balding, we used to sing him this song called "poco pelo". and he smiled about it. he never cared. so, from that you should get that "real men dont care if they go bald."

:) as long as your girl loves you anyway.

i don't know if matt's gonna go bald or not. i mean, it's hard to imagine now because he has such a full head of long hair and his dad has lots too, so i don't even know what it'll look like. i mean, on one hand i hope not, because i really love his hair...but it's not a big deal if he does. he could be a pot-bellied pig and i'd still love him.

I would personally like Steger a whole lot more if he WAS a pot-bellied pig.

I thought I would be completely bald by 20, and I'm not.

I wouldn't look good without hair, but I don't care about my looks now and I don't have any plans to start.

steger smells like bacon fat which is kinda refreshing in the morning with your breakfast but not really during the rest of the day when you'd rather smell stir fry or perhaps a peanut butter and honey samwich.

i shaved my head for years so if i do go bald and have to buzz it again it wont be shocking for my nearest and dearest, but at the mo im living life to the fullest with a good head of hair. dont really care if it did happen tho.

appearently it goes on your mothers side and skips a generation, my grandad had a full head but i dunno if my great granddad was a baldy or not...but ive escaped any hair loss so far....but that could all be a load of shite, ya know how these things go.

i've been thinking that i've been balding for the past three years. but it doesn't seem to look much different if any different at all. i think im just very paranoid becuase all the dudes on my mom's side were all completely bald by 30. or im just in denial.

I took a medication for 6 months that made like 30% of my hair fall out when I stopped taking it. Accutane if you must know. It's been almost 2 yrs since I took it and my hair's just starting to look normal again. It was horrible. Now I feel bad when I see a guy who's balding cuz I know what it's like.

oh yeah

my aunt all of a sudden went bald and it grew back just a suddenly as it fell out. the doctors had no idea why it happened. she hasn't gotten her hair cut since it grew back and that was years ago.

You are on the right track already.

I think it's almost all about attitude. I've known some guys who lost their self confidence because of it and when they have trouble with gals it's because they don't smile and look them in the eye and it has nothing to do with hair loss.

I also think guys shouldn't mention it all the time and put themselves down. It's like they're looking for reassurance and I don't do reassurance when someone's begging for it. I'm an ass.

One of the best developments of the past decade or so was the re-popularization of short hair and/or shaved heads for men.
