What do you watch and how much? I don't usually watch tv but when I do it's either the Discovery Channel or Court tv. I can't get enough of forensic investigation programs or Deadliest Catch on Discovery. I think I'm turning into a guy.

I watch almost no TV, but I do watch DVDs via Netflix, and I'm watching the first season of Veronica Mars that way so it's not like I'm a TV snob.
I will watch reruns of old crime shows late at night no matter how bad they are or how many times I've seen the episode.
I will definitely be watching Project Runway when it starts up again next week. (y) There always seems to be one of those reality shows that I watch with friends and I have to stay current or miss out on the fun conversations.

the Discovery Health channel isn't bad either. I watch Trauma: Life in the ER when my hubby's not home cuz it's usually on when we eat dinner and he refuses to watch it while he's eating. What a wimp.

There's no TV of any kind in my house anymore, and I'm okay now, but I'm hoping we get some by fall because I would be pretty sad not to be able to watch the new Office episodes right away, and have to wait to download them or something.
Other than that, not having TV is easy, except I'm still pretty much an expert at wasting time.

I've always secretly wanted to get rid of my tv and see what life would be like. I think I may.

My T.V. is controlled by minors in the daytime and my hubby at night, although I took over two-hours on Wednesdays. I have been watching UFC and now Spiketv has Blade the series and I being a TOTAL vampire nut will watch it faithfully until it gets canceled because I will probably be the only person in the U.S. watching it. That is the story of my life.

Comedy Central for all my comedy needs - Daily Show, Colbert Report, Strangers With Candy, South Park, Reno 911, Stella, old episodes of Mr. Show, SNL, Ben Stiller Show, etc. etc. Some of that shit only comes on at 3:00 AM though.
Spike TV for UFC, and those random Japanese game shows which are teh awesome.
Discovery Channel for all my random nerdy learning needs. History Channel is also a good one, but they should change their name to the Hitler Channel because that's pretty much all it is.
Umm...that's about it. Sometimes CNN for news, FOX for Simpsons and Seinfeld. But my channel's almost always on Comedy Central, it's just easier.

I NEVER watch news I prefer to be one of the "ostritch" ppl that only learns things after the fact. And MXC ( random Japanese Gameshow) is too funny.
I TIVO all programs and fast forward through the commercials. I stop if I see a ESPN commercial or the kids with big heads drinking gatorade. I love when the gal says--shut your big head up.
I watch shows like----
Little People Big World--I love the Roloff family
CSI shows
Lost
Prison Break
Lots of Poker
and about anything I see that floats my boat.
TIVO is a great invention. I love watching an hour program in 35 or 40 minutes.

GEA, this reminds me of a former co-worker except he is the opposite in his views. He was very intelligent and graduated from Harvard. He is now a television anchor in New York City. We were out covering a story one day and he kept refering to television programs. I said--wow you must really watch a tremendous amount of television. He said---I have not read a book since High School other than study materials. I can gather all the information I need by selecting programs of interest. I watch news, history, how-to- shows, etc. I was shocked because I expected him to be a voracious reader.
Now, that I think of it(lb)selecting programs of value can garner knowledge and entertainment. I do not agree with his thoughts of using television as the only informational tool because I still like a good book. Television does get somewhat of a bad rap. There is always a rose growing somewhere in a vast wasteland or the crack of a sidewalk. Television is a good way to learn and entertain yourself. Why not? It is fairly inexpensive and it gives families an entertainment option. It obviously can be abused but that is up the parents to regulate.
i'm trying to cut back on TV (i feel stupider the few times i do watch it, i feel that commercials do something sinister to your brain), but there are a few shows i'd miss if i gave it up completely.
the colbert report
daily show
the office (both versions, but the US one is the only one still running)
lost (i guess i'm a masochist but i can't give up now)
24
i think the new season of the venture brothers started, but i've been missing it...but i do miss that.
then there's a bunch of old shows that i love, but i don't think those count. really though, i hate watching TV, those few shows just keep me coming back.
