I looOOVVEEE supertramp....
Actually I can sing "Take a long way home" from the begining to
the end!

The logical song and Breakfast in America are awesome too...

I don't really know the supertramp discography but I suppose
that you can find their best songs on the "very best of":

Breakfast in America is pretty spotty, but it's got some great songs.

For my money, Even in the Quietest Moments is the most solid of their albums. I love that one wholeheartedly. (y)

....and its got cool cover art (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000002GEY/qid=1152390224/sr=2-2/ref=pd_bbs_b_2_2/002-8035529-4412857?s=music&v=glance&n=5174).

Though actually I like Crime Of The Century quite a bit better. It's more somber but also more powerful musically & espeically lyrically.

I hate to break it to you, but those are the two best songs. It's all downhill from there. Maybe you should try ELO instead.

My brother had the Breakfast in America LP and I always loved that cover. 70s LPs had some great cover art.

decision: i'll buy Breakfast In America, and hopefully like more than those two songs. :p (and maybe check out Even In The Quietest Moments, since a-z wholeheartedly suggested it. :p)

now.... what's ELO? some other band?

If you insist on buying a Supertramp CD, I'd get the greatest hits CD instead of Breakfast in America. a-z is right that it's an uneven album and I only liked the cover art which isn't important on a CD.

ELO is a rock band. I thought of ELO because it's the same era and it has the same over-produced song, only the hooks are catchier. I only know the hits though.

Not to thread crap, but ELO (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0009YNSJW/qid=1152436987/sr=2-2/ref=pd_bbs_b_2_2/002-8035529-4412857?s=music&v=glance&n=5174) is one of those bands that are fun to listen to because (as Documad said) they are overproduced; & kind of cheesy too but in an entertaining way. Similar to Queen in other words.

FYI: here's some ELO trivia for us old people :) that also get into audio geek stuff: on "Telephone" you know how at the beginning the vocalist's voice sounds tinny & small, like it would on a phone? Read this (http://www.stevehoffman.tv/forums/showthread.php?t=19248) to find out the very non-standard method they used to create that effect (about halfway down the first post; BTW, a "lacquer" is what all those millions of records we actually buy are based on).

Anyhoo.............

ELO is still one of my favorite bands, even though some of the albums are wildly uneven.

Eldorado and A New World Record are masterpieces, though.

It's too bad that their compilations are so hit-focused, because some of the best stuff were never released as singles.

If anybody wants a kick-ass ELO compilation, I'll make one for you.

Anyway, this comes up because in the office we're listening to Even in the Quietest Moments and digging it. (y) So I wanted to pull up a Supertramp thread.
