its more of a money an planin issue...familes are to big an difficult...original plan was to invite people to Jamacia for the weddin yet its kinda exspensive so we figured we can save close to 3000 bucks if we go alone....(y)
When I first read the title, I thought it was about one of those new medications that I "need to consult with a physician" about.

talk to your doctor if you are pregnant, nursing, or taking any blood thinners before using E-lopein.

i know that when my eldest bro and his wife eloped, it was to save the drama of two divorced families having to be in the same room, but we were all really sad that we didn't get to see the ceremony. but down the like we forgave them because a wedding should really be about what makes you happy, and what you want to have, and at the time that was what they wanted...so if you still want to include some people, go for it, make a small ceremony. no one says you have to go for the ice sculptures and mints with your names on them. i mean, you're picking up the tab for this banana smashing contest, so do whatever the hell feels right to you.

Understated, for me, is good when it comes to things like this. A walk in the park, stop somewhere pretty and appealing and exchange thoughts/intentions. Maybe have some very close friends and family swing by for a very light picnic. Nothing formal. Nothing rehearsed. No expectations. We might not even go to that picnic. That, to me, is just about all it should be.

Ditto. I fear for stuff like that.

I was assuming it was something like: two people fall for each other over the net, and then finally meet up to get married.
i thought it was about getting married online or something.
god, imagine that. it would make vegas look like the vatican

banana smashing is really only about the people who are smashing bananas together. The whole public everyone invited give gifts plz bullshit is trite and obnoxious.

it's so true. i can't stand when people go all out and have this huge overblown ridiculous look-how-many-bananas-we-can-smash ceremony that everyone wishes would be over already.

the best thing about banana-smashing contests is that everyone's a winner.
what if you never find that special someone to smash bananas with? you could be carrying that banana on your shoulder for the rest of your life

I do not want a wedding. I fully plan to elope. I don't know my fam might get pissed but I just really don't want to have a traditional wedding...if my dad was still alive it would be different, but he's not so I really don't feel i have to play by any rules to please everyone else. I mean we'd through a party at home to celebrate with our family, but I really like the idea of the ceremony being just between him and me.

and why does everyone always have "at last" as their first song as a banana smashing team?

bob, if you've got a banana that reaches all the way to your shoulder, you should have no trouble finding that special someone.

for me it's either the bees - "i love you," the flamingoes - "i only have eyes for you," or funky cold medina.

I heard on TV sometime a while back that they either were thinking of, or have been, allowing marriages online. (n)
