MIA, totally.
They do sound alike, but I think M.I.A. stands out. There's no question.

They don't sound similar at all. For some reason I've been drawn to both artists and have listened to both a lot.
I must admit Arular is pretty solid cd, "pull up the people" gives me the chills, but I'm like sov just a bit more. MIA isn't much of an MC at all, so shes kinda limited.

The hell? Lady Sovereign is horrible...I watched her video today (I dunno...it had the word 'boogie' in it, I think, which speaks for itself, and the rest sounded like jibberish so I got no other intelligible lyrics) and sat through it thinking, 'Who like this?'
MIA is solid.

so fling on an adidas hoodie & just boogie woogie with me!
hahaha i agree the boogie woogie doesn't show off much skills(n) but i'm still a big fan of the S-O-V.
M.I.A is taletnted(y) but if u put them in an MC battle who whould win? i think it would be sov i heard her freestyle song it was pretty good and i hear she can spit venom.

Like someone else said, MIA isn't strictly an MC. I mean, I'd call Arular eclectic; it definitely incorporates elements of hip hop, but it ain't a hip hop record.
In all fairness, my disdain for Lady Sovereign probably stems from my general dislike of the grime thing.

Listening to the "Vertically Challenged" EP. It really doesn't do much for me. I thought it was kinda okay initially, but far from anything special. M.I.A. by miles and miles and miles.

'Vertically Challenged' had maybe two good tracks. M.I.A. on the other hand is fantastic through and through.

Check her out Roosta, her first album is pretty excellent.

Never heard Lady Sov. I like her name, but I find her i'm not girly, I hate dresses, I'm a tomboy schtick a little off-putting. It sort of reminds me of Avril Lavigne. Its like, are you a musician or just a persona?
I like MIA.
Parkey
04-04-2007, 04:53 PM
She's neither; she's a chav...

Its quite amazing to go from the hatred lady sov had/gets in the uk and seeing her blow up in the states.

So wiggers aren't annoying to you? :D
Chav's seem like they're stuck in the 80's form of rap when it comes to clothing and wiggers just seem silly to me.

i just don't think its right to label somebody a "chav" or a "wigger" by how they dress even though i've done that sometimes by calling people "emos" or "punkers" or "cholos"......now i've confused myself:confused:
