apparently mtv has this new show that's going to start airing in october, called big black & rob (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0791283/) (of which i had never heard before today) that's in production. and for the last few weeks, they've been calling my store, scouting the location to shoot an episode. i just didn't know they'd be coming in tonight, while i was there. i wasn't told beforehand, but i got a call at about 6 in the evening from the production crew that they were on the way. soooo jump to about 20 minutes later and a whole film crew comes in and i'm fitted with a mic and these two guys start walking around the store, trading some inane banter, and talking about "going healthy." (side note: while we do sell "health" food, it's pretty much a "natural" food store. natural does not nececelery = healthy. i mean, sure, it's organic and no artificial ingredients are used. but it's still cookies and pizza, dude.)

anyway, after some shopping around, taking their sweet time, they come to the register and i ring them up. nothing really exciting. i wasn't as nice and talkative to them as i usually am, because i didn't want to seem like a dork on national television. they asked me a few dumb questions, obviously straining for more material in front of the camera...and that was about it. it only took maybe 20, 30 minutes tops. it looks like a really stupid show. but anyway, keep an eye out for an episode where they go to a health food store...i'm the slammin' hot cashier with the great hair.

hopefully they use this segment and i don't look like an ass come October.

You better call us out on tv--your fellow posters at the Beastie Boys message board!

I bet she didn't have the nads to. Should've upstaged them by doing some freestyle BBMB rap, and then giving a shout out.

If it had been G-mile, he'd've done a BBMB rap.

On second thought, don't--imagine the influx of MTV 'tards joining on account of cosmo's mention of this message board.

The more important question is how many crew members did you blow in the back storage room???

I hope you put the footage on youtube or something, cosmo. That wouldn't be a waste of time.

I was about 30cm off of being on Al Jazera. :(

i was recruited to be an extra last minute in that film that i worked on, red road. i wouldn't care if it wasn't gonna be widely seen by people, but it freakin' won a prize at cannes and it's going to toronto next month so gee whizz! nah, i don't really mind.

extras i had helped cast didn't show up, so my line producer nominated me. the 2nd a.d. was like "claire! on the wardrobe bus! now!" the costume designer looked at me and said "oh, you have lovely dark eyes and hair. you could so be a turkish woman!" (it was scripted as various ethnic and refugee and uh, unemployed people on a bus). i was like "no! i blatantly look like a white woman pretending to be turkish! that's insulting!" but they made me wear a scarf anyway. and a horrible chunky jumper and jacket.

my prop was a copy of chat magazine. i had to read it over and over again to stop my body spontaneously hurling itself at the camera whenever they shouted action, even though i was in the background.

was fun. the lead actress was crying in that scene though and if i was on a bus and someone was crying, damn right i would look at them so it was really hard not to.

i think they shot the scene again with a different supporting actress (weren't happy with the first one) that i wasn't included in, so i don't know what cut was used. i mean, i was in the first one so obviously despite the poor other character that one should be used, come on! ;)

anyway, my point is, enjoy your camera time. at least you didn't have to pretend to be turkish ;). did you get paid? sign anything? sue them for using your image and make some money offa them! okay, maybe not...

i didn't get paid crap! i mean, at least i was on the clock when it happened, so i was earning money that way...but yeah, i had to sign a release form so they didn't have to pixel me out. i love how "reality" shows are so spontaneous and unscripted.

About three weeks ago ESPN was down at the lakefront for the City Slam Finals (slam dunk contest). I was down there with some friends getting drunk and acting stupid. Anyway, they would stick a camera in someone's face after each dunk for audience reaction. I said something retarded. I think I might have cursed. I can't remember. If I did, then, naturally, it won't make it on the air.

Anyway, the contest is gonna air on ESPN sometime in mid-August. I'm wearing beige baggies, a bright yellow City Slam shirt and a baby blue Reebok hat.

I know, I know......

I catch hell from my friends about it all the time but I like baby blue. The Reebok hat was a give away at the slam dunk contest. They had these hotties in short-shorts throwing a bunch of shit in to the audience (T-shirts, hats, little footballs {at a slam dunk contest???} posters, etc.) and I just happened to catch a yellow shirt and a baby blue hat. I don't like yellow but I put the shirt on anyway because earlier that day I was eating Ben & Jerry's New York Super Fudge Chunk and dripped it all over the front of my original shirt.

But all in all I do like baby blue. In fact I'm wearing it as I type.

i was worried about that. i hope they don't edit it to make me look really dumb or something. they asked me some weird questions about the small shopping carts and shit. oh great now i'm scared :(

haha Just watch the're going to edit the crap out of it. They'll make a completely new interview. Just hope there was a clock in the back so it jumps around.
Or maybe they'll dub a voice in with a big bold deep man's voice? "We enjoy... me like food"
edit: no, they'll go more creative. They're gonna edit it, bit instead of audio, video.Yes, you'll be speaking then all of a sudden your head will flip upside down. Then the screen will flash random pictures of stuff. Like needles, and marbles, and.. and cups!
Or they'll weird al the interview. Make it seem like your answering to their funny stupid questions. yes! that's it.
it would be even better if the mans voice was m$ sam
oh, sorry cos
