so i had an interview today and i fucking owned it. at times i felt like i was interviewing them. it really wasn't your typical "where do you see yourself in 5 years ... " type interview. very laid back, like two established colleagues just working out the details.
i'll be starting in an entry level position (which i'm totally cool with) but they've got me in mind for an operations manager position when the money becomes available. i'd actually prefer to work the front lines and get a feel for the operation before i'm responsible for running the whole enchilada.
so in a few mos. i'll be doing my old ops manager's job. :D
2.9 miles from our place, with plenty of room for advancement, full benefits, 401k, flight options. etc etc. plus, it's exactly what i wanted to do and where i wanted to do it.
i've had my eye on this place for the last year. i was just waiting on my EAC.
1 email + 1 interview = 1 job. the new haircut performed flawlessly.
in a week i go for a drug test and i can start once the results are back from the lab.
'damn it feels good to be a gangsta.

yup. last wednesday and friday. the first session was 2 full hours. the second was a reasonable 20 mins. for real it wasn't all about getting a job.
there's some details here (http://www.beastieboys.com/bbs/showpost.php?p=1235376&postcount=715).
thanks for the well wishes, folks. i'm looking forward to becoming a productive member of society.

i was thinking i'd score a few bindles of black tar heroin, a few grams of meth to stay alert and maybe an 8 ball of cola to wash it all down.
perhaps a few celebratory beers are in order for this evening. brilliant idea.

and seriously man, isn't it a good feeling when you ace an interview, and you KNOW how bad they want you? as if there was ever a doubt. unf!

i have to admit. driving in, i was really nervous. i was born with the gift of gab, but i have to be at ease to unleash it. i didn't prep for anything and i knew i was just gonna wing it.
they made no effort to conceal how determined they were to hire me and place me in a management position. that really helped my confidence. 30 seconds in, after i was seated-- a calmness fell over me and i knew i had found my groove. a regional manager popped in, who i had corresponded with back in january. he commented how i was "really a people person and how that's what makes the difference between good customer service and exceptional sincere customer service"
in 20 mins, they had me laid out for the entry level position to get my feet wet and my hands dirty to a supervisor position with the ops mgr position down the road when the budget permits the promotion.
that's more advancement in 20 mins than i achieved in the last 7 years at my old job. i'm ridiculously stoked about this opportunity.
ps: thanks. :o

And how do dreds work? Like, how do you start it? Glue and no washing? And do people make fun of you until they're all long and proper-looking? Like what about the beginning stages, does it look really weird?
These are things that keep me up at night.

Congrats, thats fantastic news.....(y)
is your hair short now? :(
thanks. it's republican short. an inch and half or so on top and a little shorter on the sides.

i had wicked long curly hair for 8 or so years before they started. i was going to get a haircut and figured i'd just leave it be and see what happened. many moons and many girlfriends ago when i decided to lock em up a girl created 3 dreads for me. she rolled em and back-combed 'em and slopped in some beeswax. i stopped conditioning / combing and the others slowly started forming. occasionaly waxing and locking helped them form and stay formed.
as the years dragged on, they got longer and more locked. before i came to visit beth for the first time i had them professionally cleaned up. they added a lot of jehri curl juice to them, but really helped them look more presentable.
that was the only time i had any professional work done on them.
it was good run, i'll miss being easily recognized, but in the same breath, appreciate flying under the radar.

So put it on a credit card. It's all minor details to me, as long as I get my TV I'm happy.

my credit card is currently inoperative, sorry.
i'm still actively involved in a lotto pool in canada. if that comes in, i'll totally buy you a tv. ($2700 max tho, i barely know you.)

well done, babes. fucking over-achieving bastard.
p.s. i thought he meant $401k a year too! i mean, yikes. that's more than the freakin' president probably gets paid! not that bobby doesn't deserve it. i mean, he could probably be a better president too so who am i to comment on salaries? heh.
Noweth thatdsth thou hath realised yon benifits of previously discussed 401k plan, dost thou not prefer to give an old fashion "America; FUCK YEAH!" in the midst of this past Fourth day of the Month of July, young man? (http://fireproof.bravehost.com/myPictures/haha+Thou+PWNED.jpg)
