....one of my co-workers has been temporarily assigned to my office area. I am munching almonds, which sounds fairly loud in my head, so I wind up trying to chew more quietly -- even trying to let them sit in my mouth and soften.

I guess I could just ask, but... oh! -- he just farted. Swear to God! :D

Nice timing, bro.

He's comfortable making these little farts in here, and they don't smell.

Okay -- I feel I have license to chew.

I'm working on that same delicate balance. It's easy to feel like a disturbance when you stroll into work with a big gulp and beef jerky.

"What? I'm working!"

I worked as a part-time nanny when I was in college for this girl who was a freshman in high school. basically her parents were professors and really busy soshe need some one to pick her up from school in the afternoons, take her to ballet, stuff like that. on the days she didn't have after school activites she would come home and have a snack. she was a petiti little girl and yet she CHEWED LOUDER THAN ANY PERSON I'VE EVER MET IN MY ENTIRE LIFE. I mean it was like a cow chewing cud or something. at first I thought she wasn't chewing with her mouth closed...BUT SHE was. and I mean you could hear her masticating in the next room! It drove me BONKERS. I never saw/heard her parents eat so maybe it was hereditiary, but i can't beleive they did realize how loudly thier daughter ate. :(

Some times my boss eats ceral in the morning and I can't stand that either.

A friend I grew up with chewed with his mouth open, and pretty loudly. Eventually, I said something about how girls wouldn't like that, and he said he kept his mouth closed if he was on a date, but he stopped doing it (around me, at least) anyway.

He was a good egg. (y)

blech, i hate loud chewing. this one guy i know, no manners at all. wouldn't care if you told him. literally, my dog ate more quietly than him, and we fed him the dry stuff. just mouth open, SMACK SMACK SMACK SMACK, i could hear him in the next room with the door closed. no shame about talking with his mouth full, either. sometimes he'd start talking, stop mid sentence, take a mouthful of something, and continue talking. what a cunt. do not like him.
