this would have been better three albums ago.

Glad I saw them on their last tour.

It'd be cool if they released a rarities comp, like Cure's "Connect the Dots" or whatever it was called.

Man....some bad news. I'm also glad I got a chance to see them last year...they put on a great show. There is talk of a greatest hits compilation coming out later this year....chances are you'll have a couple unreleased tracks on there. But as Rivers said in the article...I think they'd need to release a couple more albums before they make one.

"Really, for the moment, we are done. And I'm not certain we'll ever make a record again, unless it becomes really obvious to me that we need to do one."

I wouldn't think much of it.

they have 2 or 3 fun songs, and even those tend to get boring after a few listens..

How odd. Why give an interview to an MTV reporter in Japan to say that you are working on music every day but you have no idea what you're going to do with it and have no plans to play with your band? What a complete non-story. It doesn't even say they broke up. Typical Rivers.

I've never been a fan, but I was surprised that I really enjoyed seeing them live last year. They were a lot of fun.

If they're going to break up - so be it.

Unlike the popular sentiments, I thought "The Green Album" and "Maladroit" were pretty good (not quite "Blue Album" or "Maladroit," but there were some great songs). "Make Believe" was just lousy.

So if they're going to record more "Make Believe"-type stuff, then it's best they just call it quits.

Thank you for saying the obvious. The fans that dismiss anything Weezer does post-Pinkerton prefer nostalgia over the music itself, if you ask me. It doesn't matter if they turn out another Pinkerton, people will whine since it wasn't released before 1996 and the lyrics don't reference sweaters. The Green album and Maladroit were solid, but Make Believe was excellent. If it proves to be Weezer's swan song, it's not a bad way to go out.

Basically, if Weezer can make a bad album, they've yet to prove it. At least to me.

Word. Their later stuff was just...uninteresting. Make Believe (besides that embarassment 'Beverly Hills') was just starting to get a smidge personal again and now they're done. Great.
