OK so! I have to brag about this...

I went to the taping last night with a backstage all access wrist band courtesy of my special friend. So yeah, I blogged about this shit on my myspace page if anybody cares. (see link in my profile)

Anyways, yeah, I'm sitting in the bar/lounge thing backstage and I spotted Thurston, chillin at the bar! Now I've never ever gotten an autograph before and I knew last night could've been my chance to actually meet one of my heroes so I packed a SY 7" in my purse with a sharpie in case I got the ballz to ask for an autograph. AND I DID! Yay me! (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v610/jdawgphotos/autograph.jpg)

Ok though, really, I actually kinda talked to the guy. And he was so approachable and cool and nice and great and wonderful and all sorts of good things. I told him this 7" I had prolly didn't play anymore and he's like I actually have an 8 track signed by Jonesy (Sex Pistols)! I told him I liked what he said in this interview earlier and stuff and it was a pleasure to meet him. He'd had my sharpie in his hands and looked dn at it and said, 'oh this is yours' handed it to me and I was like whoa.... really like whoaness to the fullest yo. I'm still high from the encounter. OH and the live show was amazing of course, mostly stuff off 'rather ripped'. But they did play Catholic Block and I freaked. Sheesh, lookat me carry on here, I'll shut up now, but damn. Damn Damn Damn. *shakes head* :D :D :D :D

It's just so rad to tell people who may actually get it!!! I fuckin really talked to Thurston fucking Moore! Dude's a living legend. I mean really. I've been smiling ever since it went down. Thanks for the props though. I couldn't really get to sleep last night cuz I was trippin.

Oh, Jenny, that's so perfect. And a 7"! I'm tearing up.

I'm not even a fan of their music, but I'd love to talk to him. He's such an cool writer and he says interesting things.

:) awwwwww thx Documad! I know you don't get their music and I actually thought of you during this whole experience cuz I remember talking to you about SY. But you get it. You get the whole music appreciation thing. And you get the level of 'artist' that Thurston is. *sigh* *drinks her beer* Really, I could type for hours about this freaking experience like I'd had a near death experience or something. But really, I usually just hover in the shadows and stare at people like this but I approached him like the real human being he is and he was so cool. Shit. 'stop talking about it Jenny!' I think my co-workers wanted to dart me today cuz I was squirrelly as fuck!

Ha! I never have any thunder, I figured I'd post that link and it would hit page 3 with "no reply" by noon tomorrow.

Instead I get the coolest reply ever, the last ime I saw Sonic Youth was 10 years ago at an outdoor mudfest in bremerton washington, along with none other closing band than the Beastie Boys.

Sonic Youth ruled the day!

Watching that last night I would of never guessed!!! jennygirl rules the day!

Jenny, that is beyond awesome! Thurston Moore always seems like a cool cat in interviews, so it's great to know that's a reality. :)

Great video !! I love these guys !! (y)

Funny they are playing with two bass guitars, and funnier is that the guy in yellow playing the second bass just looks like Mark Ibold, who used to play with Pavement....
Or is he Jimmy O'Rourke, who used to play with SY these last years, you can't see him well in the video...

I was gonna make a new thread, but I figured I may as well place it here.

I've got a major music nerd question for those of you who file your collections alphabetically...

**Non-music nerds need not apply, so just click the "Back" button, thanks**

All right, so tonight I got the Ciccone Youth album (the secretly Sonic Youth side project where they do some electro tribute to Madonna).

Anyways, I'm unsure of where to file it. Should I file it under "C" or should I file it under "S" with the rest of my Sonic Youth albums? It is, for all intents and purposes, a Sonic Youth album and its context would fit best with the rest of SY's work.

But then again, I don't file Thurston Moore's solo album under "S", I have it under "M" for Moore.

Oh, decisions, decisions.

it's a sonic youth album by sonic youth so file it under s

cuz then you'll know that all your sonic youth albums are there and it wudn't be as confusing if u labeled it under c

or where ever u want really

I would file it under Sonic Youth. I do that with all my related albums like Beastie Boys, Mix Master Mike, DJ Hurricane, BS2000...... I put all under Beasties.
