it's definitely not the battery if those things are working.
However that's about all I know, heh.

Well, technically your lights and stereo could still work even if it is the battery. If it's going erurrrhrurrrhrurrrh when you try to start it, it's probably not the battery, though.
what kind of car? i have a honda civic, i had a problem like this, it was with the ignition, or something. i'd turn the key and it would make the starting up sound, but the engine wouldn't turn over, it sounded like it was constantly on the verge of it though. i got it towed to a mechanic, he said it's a problem with hondas, something about the ignition wearing out and if it falls in a bad place, the engine might not turn over, or i don't remember, really. he said if i ever had the problem again, just be patient and keep trying to start it. i think. i don't remember exactly. i didn't have the problem for another year or so, then i did again and being patient didn't work, it just kept failing. a friend of mine looked under the hood, and he watched as i tried to start the car...he reached in and touched something during the ignition process and it started up fine, haven't had a problem since. i don't know what he did.
anyway, it might not be the battery is all i'm saying

Oh, good. Glad it wasn't something dumb like you were trying to start it with your house key or something.

Happened to me, too. My car was a 1990 and I was able to take the key out when it wasn't in park. Newer cars won't let you do that.
