i am due to go to france with my family tomorrow for a week. just getting this and that sorted out, when i decided that in fact passports were really the first thing i should be thinking about... then i realise....

my son's passport has expired :( :( :(

there's basically nothing i can do except bluff it, and say "oh! i didn't realise." and hope they let a 5 year old boy, who's passport is 3 months expired, through. i'll take his birth certificate as well, as that is the only other form of ID i can think of that he has.

i feel like the worst parent on earth. although i think my husband should share the blame equally.... so there :p

Urm, young children can usually enter a nation using their parents' passport. I am not sure what the cut-off age is, but I'd imagine it is older than 5 years.

i doubt they're gonna turn you back especially if he's a 5 year old. that's a bit harsh. just pull the whole "oh what?! you're kidding me?!". maybe even pull a fake tear

I think that's if you have them listed on your passport. But he has his own passport. We're going on the euro tunnel, so i'm hoping they'll just wave us through...

haha, i did that on the phone. except it wasn't fake :(

i just feel so bad about disappointing my son.

Yah good luck. Last time I used it, they didn't check the passports, other than for the duty free.
