So...I found out there's a "spiritual supply store" downtown where I live. I've been there a couple times, I bought an incense burner there once.

Anyways, the other day I'm in there looking over stuff and they've got these racks and racks of herbs. I'm thinking "say...I wonder how you make incense from this stuff." Stupid asks the owner of the shop how you do it - and I get this lengthy explanation about how resin is mixed with gum and powder and sprinkled on charcoal or etc etc etc and I'm baffled. "Wow! I wouldn't even know where to start with something like that!"

15$ and one "The Complete Book of Incense, Oils & Brews" later, I'm at home reading about composition of incense (read: sifting through 'magic' nonsense to find actual instructions).

I like to do stuff like this so that I have to slow down a bit, and making my own incense seems like an interesting and rewarding hobby.

Does anyone here have their own recipes for incense - or opinions about this whole thing?

For real!? Make sure they're real, and not synthetic - since apparently synthetic 'essential oils' smell like plastic when they burn.
