I'm listening to the Yeah Yeah Yeah's and it just reminds me of how I'm so jealous of people that are talented singers. I unfortunately was not born with that talent even though I desire it so desperately. I love Karen O's voice and I wish I could steal it from her, that bitch!*

I have a huge, huge problem with envy. Probably stems from deep feelings of entitlement and bitterness.

So what is it that makes you envy people? I don't know that I feel jealousy. Maybe when I was younger I did but I don't remember. I might feel inspired by someone, but I don't know that it's envy.

I do know people who are or who have been envious. It's not like they say so--they don't come right out and say, enree, I am envious of that. But their attitude. Man, the one person jumped at the chance to criticize or try to invalidate my relationship with my kid, plant seeds of doubt with me, pick at it, pick at the things my kid said--seeing what he said or did as negative or deceptive. It always screamed envy to me and that weirded me out. Same person: every now and then, if I had an achievement, that was often cast in some odd light--like that achievement just materialized out of thin air, came from luck (not that it was the fruit of hard work or persistence). With people like that, I hide good news and when they've heard about it anyway, I downplay those good things in my life. That's no fun.

Envy is often disguised as other things but you can usually see through it. Or you can hear through it, you know...you can hear a tone in the person's voice and though they're saying the right things, you can hear the envy dripping out.

I just wonder what it is that makes people envy other people instead of feeling true happiness for them. What is that?

you know, i can kind of sympathize. on the way to work this morning, i was listening to another one bites the dust, and i was trying to sing along but failing miserably, and sure enough, i was jealous of freddie mercury. that happens to me sometimes.

oh well at least i don't have aids

I envy not a lot of things or people....I envy girls who are "perfect" (in the way that likes to my boyfriend)...I'm not as perfct as ke would like me to be....so I envy girls who eat everything at every hour of the day and night....and always keep perfect shape....I evnvy that very much!

I won't talk about the other things that I envy 'cause they're childish!
