alot. i have some of the DVD's, but there's so so many, i wish there were a way i could get them all. watching the ones i do have is one of my favorite things to do, i don't seem to get bored of them for some reason. it's probably one of the nerdier things that i do, but there you go.

let's talk about mst3k in this thread

the last one i watched was prince of space. that's a great one. i like it when they slam badly dubbed japanese movies. i like it very much

first episode i ever saw was the mole people, and that got me hooked...

they always have a bunch of the DVD's at this record store i go to a lot, but they are always like $40-50 for each 3-4 episode one and i am too cheap to pay that much for it

yeah that's my problem too. eventually i cave and buy one, i have three now. i think the creators kind of encourage you to download their episodes. they vandalize the FBI anti piracy warning at the beginning of the DVD, they don't really seem to mind.

and there's SO many episodes, it would take forever to collect all the DVD's legitimately.

TVs Frank is the coolest person in MST3K and Crow is my favorite bot.
I'm having a hard time deciding on a fave episode, but Zap Rowsdower from Final Sacrifice was the coolest protagonist...

haha, i love frank. he does the voice of tom servo too, right?

i like joel better than mike. not that mike's not funny, but joel has this unusual charm to him that's hard to match

I don't remember much about the show because I haven't seen it in probably ten years, but I enjoyed it very much when I did watch it. send me your dvds, kthanks.

manos, the hands of fate

that's a classic one. my two favorites are probably pod people and the cave dwellers, in that order.

jabumbo
07-19-2006, 09:21 AM
oh yes, the pod people one is quite fantastic as well

Thanks, folks.

I just added Pod People at #1 in my queue.

Hmmm. The Wild Bunch, Richard Pryor Live! in Concert, and MST3K: The Pod People. That's an interesting programme. :)

I always liked the monster movies better, but the "socially significant" stuff like "Girl in the Gold Boots" had some of the best jokes.

Waitress -writing down an order
Tom Servo: "Tee-hee. I'm giving myself my autograph."

Guy drives backwards

Crow: "Might as well get some of that gas back!"

I didn't like it when Joel left. but the show still rocked on and on...to the break o' dawn. I'm in a weird fucking mood today.

The movie was my favorite.

It is really nerdy. I hate when I mention it to someone and they go "oh so you're one of THOSE people!" and they nod and I've just been placed on a shelf in their brain, in the closet, in the back of the closet, still in the package, like a collector Hoth Princess Leia action figure.

Everyone likes Mitchell but I didn't think it was as good as I Accuse My Parents. "vodka sandwiches again!?"

Which was the one with Trumpy? :D
I can never remember the names of the movies they watch, just parts of them.
Is it still on Saturday mornings at 8?

Bob
07-19-2006, 11:31 AM
i haven't been up at 8 on a saturday in years, so i don't know. i don't think so.

trumpy was in pod people. SO many memorable parts in that one, they even bring them up in other mst3k's sometimes.

chief? MCCLOUD!

That one was so funny they barely had to say anything. It would have been funny without them too, just not as much. Some of the movies they watch, I don't think would be amusing without their jokes. Others are so bad they tell their own jokes. Like the guy in the VIRGIN shirt.

I remember the joke about the guy's name in the titles. Miles O'Keefe. How much keef is in this movie?

yeah, prince of space is one of those kinds of movies. part of what makes it so funny is just the guys audibly laughing at how bad the movie is. they're usually pretty good about not laughing at their own jokes, but it's too hard not to for prince of space, it's SO cheesy and horrible. it's japanese, and the english dubbing is done by "bellucci productions", everyone has these new york italian accents, it's hilarious. i can't even describe how ridiculous it is, it must be seen.

it's an initiation thing...we have people watch that, and judge them based on their reactions. heiress and her bf are welcome anytime

i've also loved Eegah, Prince of Space, uh...hrm, i have 3 of the box sets and i've seen a lot of other ones. i remember Gunslinger being pretty great. and of course, Manos. i have a vhs of the movie somewhere too.

mike's way funnier, but joel is just so cute. and god i hate pearl.

p.s. i like it very much

MST3K is the best show I've ever seen. God, I could watch every episode all day, everyday. The first episode I saw was The Phantom Planet. The episode that turned me into a fan was Devil Fish. My favorite episode is Invasion Of The Neptune Men (Space Chief!).

Krankor: "Ha...Ha...Ha...Ha...Ha...Ha."

The Final Sacrifice was funny, not just because of Rowsdower, but because of the Yosemite Sam sounding guy.

Yosemite Sam: "McGreggor!?!? Ewan McGreggor!?!?! Father of something!?!?!"
Troy: "Yeah! You know him?"
Servo: "Know him? He was delicious!"

Servo: "By the way, I hates that rabbit."

(Yosemite Sam guy puts on a vest.)
Rowsdower: "They took him!"
Servo: "I gotta go work out!"
(Yosemite Sam guy scratches his beard.)
Yosemite Sam: "Why?"
Mike: "Man, the lice has left my beard."

And anyone notice whenever the kid (Troy) said "Rowsdower", he had a lisp?

i think before comedy central, it showed on some local station in...minnesota. i looked it up in the mst3k wikipedia entry, it wasn't a cable station, it was an over the air thing. KTMA, it was called.

I've never been in Minnesota so I guess I didn't see it.

I never liked the other "evil" characters who made Mike or Joel and the robots watch the movies. I thought they were too boring and the show could have done without them.
