female comedians suck. The grand prize for naming a hilarious female comedian is...............a punch in the face because you're wrong. This has been brought to my attention by Last Comic Standing last night. I'd rather have sex with a jar of broken glass than watch those ladies perform.(n)

Granted, but funny? Not really. Her whole shock humor schtick got old. Fast. It's not even really that shocking either. The only shock factor is that a girl that hot says such dirty shit.

She was on a comedy central roast of either Pamela Anderson. She was perfect. I'm hard put to think of any other quality female stand-up comedians.
There's one that I can't stand. She was in the news a bit ago for having had lots of cosmetic surgery. She's in her early 40s maybe, longish dyed-reddish hair. I forget her name. She was on a season of of the Celebrity Mole. She's annoying. She thinks she's great.

Yes! That's her. That's great because it's been bugging me since I made that post. She's only annoying, not funny.
If you didn't know better, when he's in drag, you might vote for Eddie Izzard. He's probably my favorite stand-up comedian--he seems pretty damn smart and he's hysterical on top of that. His style is the type of stand-up that appeals to me. When he did his Sexie tour, he looked amazing in a high-cut skirt.

eddie izzard is GREAT. one of my favorites. he's been in some questionable(ly bad) movies, though. i still love his stand up though.

I will and have travelled to see him do stand-up. He's amazing and I love the range of stuff that he talks about and he thinks well on his feet. It all seems very effortless for him. He's a kind of unassuming sort of guy or at least he seems that way.

I kinda agree with you though, most female comedians I've seen suck...it really takes a lot for me to laugh out loud and none of them really ever do it for me. They man bash and talk about their vagina's and come on, it's really not all that funny.

I think it's harder for a woman to be funny. Just observation.
A guy who's only kinda funny can carry a skit better than a girl who's funny (outside of performing things). I like a girl who can make me laugh.

yeah, he's very fluid. he apparently doesn't really plan material, he just comes up with a basic skeleton, and wings it. i also like that the cross-dressing isn't a gimmick, he would be equally funny even if he weren't in drag. he just does it because he likes it.

Last night was the first time Ive watched it. Its down to 5. I just really hate all those type of shows. Spot on about the man bashing and vag jokes. That pretty much sums up the lady from NY's act last night.

Ellen Degneres is funny sometimes. Janeane Garafalo made me laugh when she said the movie Backdraft was originally about her, and called Backfat. I guess it ends there. I guess there's a difference between ACTING funny and telling jokes. I think a lot of women can ACT funny but they're not comedians, they're more like clowns.

I know that there are female comedians out there that can make me laught. Maybe make me laught a few times, but thats it. Im not basing my opinion just off that show. That show sucks. Ellen is kinda funny, but really only because her humor is so simple and she makes it work for her. I like Janeane Garafalo better in sketch comedy than standup.

ellen D. has some of the best comic timing i have ever seen....better than dane cook or half the over-styled dudes i've ever seen attempting stand up.
Silverman and Garafalo are fantastic.
Garafalo is very original with her structure and should be applauded for never resorting to shock or gross out humor.

I like a girl who can make me laugh.Sometimes I think they're trying to imitate men doing standup and that's maybe why they just feel fake or fall flat lots. Just like a lot of times women who are managers imitate men who are managers instead of finding their own style and going with that.

I seem to have liked some female comedians whe they first came out, but it seems like the more they talk, the less I think they're funny.

You honestly think there haven't been any "studies" on gender differences and humor? I'm positive I've read some. I love how you throw around the word "studies" But anyway, it should mean something to look at certain demographics and see what they find funny. A lot of people have said they didn't find women as consistently funny as men. Maybe they were sexist but I don't think they were prejudging, I think they were making an honest observation about themselves. I remember an interview with some old cast members of SNL and even some of the men on the show were quoted as saying they didn't think women could be as funny as men - now that was definitely sexist and probably has more to do with men and their view of women, but whether or not the issue is women not being funny or men just not being able to laugh at them, the point still stands that the women aren't being laughed at as openly by men.
