thats what i said at first. I watched the first 3 or 4 new episodes and they literally put me to sleep. So I gave up on it. But sunday....it was good stuff. I'm willing to give it another try.

It was totally different. At first they had a song every couple of episodes and they were short, but in time it started having more songs. That is why I originally stopped caring.
But when it came back it was as if there was a song every two breaks. Overdose.

But I think G-mile said it best a while ago....something about them just getting back into the groove of things again. Last week was a perfect example.

Its still as good as it was when they had it first run, if anything people are just getting bored of the same plots, Auton and I were discussing this a couple ago. I enjoy it greatly and think it will take a while to get into the swing as well as come up with new material to spoof. I still giggle whenever I think of the new episode that featured the Rice Krispie Guys tlaking about the war they had with the Keebler Elves. "This one to Snap (?)....TO SNAP"(y)

Maybe it's trendy because there's some truth behind it. You don't hear anyone talk shit on South Park. That show is more susceptible to trash talk because its been on longer and is more edgy, but the writing has always been on point and is always relative. Believe me, there's nothing I liked more a few years ago than Family Guy, but it seems that the show's formula was destined to play itself out.

the absolute worst thing about family guy is the comedic timing is always off. Always always always. Its always jokes unrelated to the plot as well...they just sort of toss shit in and do a half ass attempt to connect the two.

I love that show. Stewie is a trip. But I've noticed over the last couple of years some of the episodes veer off in a direction that leave me saying WTF?

I remember one episode where something happened to Peter and Brian the dog was basically taking over the family duties. Well, throughout the whole episode he's trying to get Lois to go to bed with him since he's 'head of the family' and all. And she almost does it by the end of the show but Peter shows back up just in time. It was really weird and as hard as I tried I couldn't find anything funny about it at all. It was just........weird.

Hey, I still find the new Family Guy episodes funny. Like the one where Meg became a pop star, or when Peter became blind that had the Star Wars ending. My favorite moment has to be when Chris got sucked into the "Take On Me" music video.
