remind everyone they are famous because of their FANS! GOD I LOVE MY FANS! MY FANS ARE SUCH WONDERFUL FANS AND I LOVE MY FANS!
It doesn't really help you push your product when you flat out criticize your fans. That major league baseball guy (someone's bound to remember him) who basically said only poor black negroes ride the subway or whatever... that's kind of like shooting your career in the nuts.
Nascar drivers have been "ALL ABOUT DA FANZ" in the past few years and the rednecks eat it up like candy coated crack.
I think it's annoying too though. Although I'd be pretty psyched if thousands (or hundreds?) of people were into my artistic output.

well yeah but you dont have to repeat it every day.
Its not much different than reminding your boss how thankful you are to be employed day in and day out.
Its kinda like when some shitheap of a 70s band plays a state fair and alters one song to say the name of the podunk town they're in and the audience goes beserk like the song was written specifically for them.

I do that. It's fun.
I have a song where it's like
be PEACE like we build at the M.A.P. (local community center)
but I wrote it to be interchangeable with
be PEACE like ICE n-i-n-e (my former performance poetry group)
And last week at OMDSI I was all
be PEACE like they build in the OMD (UU's Ohio Meadville District)
My fans really really loved it. I have great fans.

I think it's sweet when celebrities always thank their fans. But that's just me.
Although I'd like it if for once, some celeb, when he/she won an award would say, "I hate you all! Thank you and good night!"
