but pussied out of asking for a hit.

I asked my mom whether or not my dad smoked, she snarfed what she was drinking and asked me "What the hell do you think? He smoked cigarettes when he was 18, and his best friend lived out of his VW van. This was 1968. Come on."

My mom also said her friends used to make special meals - special pancakes, waffles, and eggs for breakfast, and so on down the line until dinner. She had to constantly ask what was in the stuff she was eating just to make sure it wasn't in there (she said she tried it a few times, but it gave her migraines).

Same thing when my parents confiscated my porn back when I was 16. I found it hidden and took it back. But what are they gonna say? They told me they threw it out. HA.

my parents were smoking weed long before my brother and i were born and continue to do so now. they've never hidden it from us. i recall being a small child and them telling me not to tell anyone that they "roll their own cigarettes". lol, not sure how old i was when it finally dawned on me, they are smoking weed.

That's irony for you - harshing on your dad's mellow. My dad's only ever harshed on mine. I've seen pictures of him passing a wooler around with my uncles, but since he got religion he's not cool anymore. I wish I could get toasted with my dad and brother, we'd have an ill time.

My parents never hid it from me. I mean, they were dragging me to Grateful Dead shows when I was 5, fer cryin out loud. Neither of them smokes regularly anymore, but I imagine my mom would take it if it was offered. My dad's too into jogging and stuff now though.

Am I the only kid whose parents (who came of age during the late 60s) did NOT indulge in any of that weed smoking. At all.

And don't even try to tell me they've lied to me. Just a few days ago, my mom had no clue what "420" meant.

Hard to say, tracky. To me it just always seemed like a relatively normal thing to do. Just like most kids know that mom and dad have a liquor cabinet or beer in the fridge, I knew that mine also had a shoebox under the bed, you know? So I don't know that it made me "want to smoke" any more or any less, it's just that it didn't seem strange or 'forbidden' or illicit or anything.

To me it was always something forbidden, and like I say, my parents are both pretty straight people, so I doubt they ever smoked it. I think it was in part because it was forbidden that I first tried it. I was always looking for forbidden things to try.

i started smoking weed 7 yrs ago, which is 6 yrs before i found all of this out.

of course, we all knew my dad was a hippie (before he sold out and fled to corporate america) and once when he was drinking he told me he went out to Vancouver in his early 20s ('70s) and did every drug he and his friends could get their hands on.

I know my dad must've smoked weed when he was younger. My mom has never done any drugs, because she always goes around telling she got sick from 1 drag of a cigaret. I've done multiple tries to get her to go to a coffeeshop with me, but never succeeded ><

Of course it encouraged me to smoke. My mom used to have her friends over and I'd stay upstairs and that pungent smell would creep up into my room.

They'd be smiling and giggleing and laughing whenever I went downstairs to get water or something to eat. They'd always also have the coolest selection of music playing too.

But, she was very good at hiding her stash. I could never find it if I wanted to so, I never actually knew what that smell was and I've never smoked any till I turned 19.

DS - my parents never smoked. my dad was an athlete, my mom was his little groupie. hahaha. but yea, the most my dad ever did was drink a bit, but he stayed away from anything that would harm his running. so, they never partook in the drug culture of the time. it's funny cause i've told my mom about drug shit that she had no clue about. and my parents FLIPPED OUT when they found out my brother was smoking.

my dad was big into coke in the 80's, and my mom was/is the purest most innocent lady that ever lived. the combo of the two made me terrified to drink/smoke/shoot/snort anything ever. although, when I was a teenager, my mom confessed that she'd tried pot "twice", but said she didn't like it.

I confessed smoking weed once in the car when we were talking about her husband-at-the-time's past days of being a pothead. she was right in the thick of love then and was of the new opinion that weed really wasn't so bad. :rolleyes: so I figured, ah, perfect time to tell her the truth while she's asking!

every now and again in recent years (now that the pothead is her EX husband), she'll ask, "you don't smoke pot do you?" and I say, "uh, no".

dude, that show was on at a bar I went to a few weeks ago and there were like 5 guys wrestling a big crocodile for some reason. whathisbutt kept locking arms with his buddies and putting his face really close to crotches. it was very homoerotic.
