i got offered a 5 month contract today with a specialist firm, doing work that i really want to be doing, however there is no guarantee of ongoing work beyond that. the particular kind line work is very hard to get into when you have no experience, so it'd probably be a good foot in the door. who knows, really. pay is pretty good. they have some big clients and are quite well regarded from what i can gather. they want to know back by next friday...if not they'll get someone else.

however,

next friday i have two interviews in another, larger city. the work is more general, and there is no guarantee that i'd even get offered either position. if i did, the work would be permanent. and a permanent job in either firm would be sweet.

so really i dunno what i should do, because i don't want to accept the first offer, without hearing what the other two firms have to say, and what they can offer. maybe i can ask the first firm to delay.

that's all. fuck this.

That's a really tough call. How badly do you need the security of a more permanent job? What I mean is, if you go for the specialist temporary position and at the end of the period you're not made permanent, how difficult would that be for you? Could you manage until you found something else? If you wait until next week and end up getting a permanent but not as interesting job, will you spend a lot of time whishing you were someplace else, or do you think you'd be happy?
