Ok so it's occured recently that i need to open a new fucking bank account cos my current one is plain shite, opened it years ago.

So since my payslip has again been delayed and i'm sitting penniless on friday night, bank accounts. I was considering the halifax since they seem to rate fairly highly in most reviews, but the thing that worries me is that their interest rates for students (by AER) are well high on unauthorised overdrafts which may be a problem beyond graduation. Although if i notify them beforehand they might be able to lower the rate, not sure what the procedure is, but anyway, how have you found your bank thus far, and have you used the same bank since your student days, or what? And have any of you been in the situation where you've had to approach your bank to notify them that you'll be exceeding your account overdraft and agreed on a rate for the unauthorised overdraft?

Anything anyone can say is greatly appreciated. Cheers.
