View Full Version : Withnail & I
Tonight I'm finally gonna bite the bullet and watch this (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0094336/). It's been sitting on my desk for a couple weeks. More on this as it develops.

It's such an adorable movie.
(after the lighter fluid)
"we haven't got anything'"
"Liar! you've got anti-freeze!"
"You fool! You should never mix your drinks!"

I think I'll have to go back there and get it tomorrow. Maybe the dust will come off the cover I suppose
What's funny is - I ended up hanging out with this girl last night and playing Xbox and whatnot - never even got around to watching Withnail & I. Tonight though!

Those boys could use a good housecleaning. (y)
Ultimate disappointment. I usually like weird druggy movies, but not this. There was little or no plot, no sensible conversations, and no dialogue or monologue extended long enough to form a coherent thought - let alone be funny.
Maybe you have to be from the UK.
The scene with Del Preston (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0114460/) was pretty entertaining though.

...I'm kinda glad to hear somebody else didn't think this was a big deal. That what'shisname is pretty unlikable, too.

Sounds like real life, then. And it's not a "weird / druggy movie", so if that is what you were expecting, you were bound to be disappointed.

I never knew the nutbar roadie from Wayne's World 2 came from this movie. I can't decide whether having seen Wayne's World 2 made Withnail and I more enjoyable, or having seen Withnail and I makes Wayne's World 2 funnier, again. It's not a weird druggy movie, it's a buddy movie. And I agree that there wasn't much of a plot but buddy movies don't need plot when the focus is on characters and dialogue and silly situations.
