I don't know about that, but I was encouraged by the DVD commentary because several times one of them said "on the next tour . . . ."

Yeah, wake up, get an iced coffee, play some basketball, skateboard, order lunch, break for tea, get a facial and a dry rub, play some Scrabble/Boggle/Mah Jongg/Katamari, order dinner, play with the kids, slip between the sheets with Freckles/Tamra/Dechen, sweet dreams. Messin' around.

Although I'll love whatever the beasties come up with for the new album, but I would like to hear a more diverse album than TT5B.

I think they are wayyyyyyyyy to talented to just do a one genre type of record.

Then again I dont want a record just like CYH, but something simular would be nice(y)

My predictions for the new album:

- they'll be playing their instruments again;
- it'll have instrumental songs again;
- it'll have at least 1 hardcore song again (well........im not that confident about this but thats what i want to hear again tho)
- it wont be anything similar to TT5B. I think it will remind Hello nasty for some reason that I dont know.
- they'll tour here in Brazil with this new album (hahahaha....ok..ok....I went too far)

i think the instrumental days of CYH are over.......they were single, young and basically hanging out everyday.....if this record has any instruments, it'll be minimal.......1 hardcore song is possible......the beasties have now established themselves as a PC band.....when this record drops, Bush will be out of office.....so the anti-Bush rhetoric will be replaced with all "lets hold hands and sing Kumbaya".....but there's no reason they can't bring the PB flow back no matter what the topic is....there's ways to to do PC trax and make them sound nice....but that's gonna take a lot of time together, writing rhymes........

I was in his section in NYC. I'm not even a little bit artistic or interesting so it was clearly a mistake. By the time I got to Chicago that mistake had apparently been addressed because I found myself in Yauch's section. :rolleyes:

I'd sing it or that 70s Coke-a-Cola song or something like it and maybe we could all have a sort of global celebration of the end of bush and his awful, awful reign.

I was just watching the Beastie interview for The Loop on MuchMoreMusic, and when asked about the new album, Horovitz said it had only been "three of four years since the last album" and it usually takes them "ten years" to complete an album. So we shouldn't expect it soon.

(He was, of course, joking... I hope.)

Since I got really into them a few months ago, I'd harbored this weird secret hope that they'd just throw the sampling laws to the wind and make a Paul's Boutique for this day and age. It's a silly pipe dream, since the lawsuits would descend like junk sick and the record label would kill them, but it's really funny to think how much it would destroy today's current crappy rappers in terms of quality. With all the new technology and advances in the field of sampling and computers, mixed with the genius of the Beasties, it'd be the holy grail. But alas, it'll never come to be. I'm sure the next album will be great anyway.

If you pick up the new DVD, you'll hear MMM drop all kinds of "samples" and songs. They spent a pretty penny to clear all of those samples.

wow just a penny?:eek: :p

i wonder how much it cost to get all those samples clear & i wonder how much it would have costs to do Paul's Boutique today

every sample has a different price right? like u have to pay as much as the original artists wants?:confused:

I remember reading somewhere on here what the budget was for the film...and how much of that was for just clearing the samples. But I can't that post now.

Let's not forget that the Dust Brothers did all the production on Paul's Boutique. Although I totally respect the Beasties as producers (especially on some of that Hello Nasty-type ish), I seriously don't think they could come even close to the masterful stuff that was on display in Paul's Boutique.

Bob Dylan asked for $2000 for that little 5 second lyric on "Finger Lickin' Good", but I think it was Mike D. that haggled him down to $700. Still, if that's higher then usual asking price, then sampling really is a dead art. I've read it cost $250,000 of thier own money to clear most of PB, and they're still getting lawsuits over it. I thoroughly appreciate the sacrifice. (y)

Purple Haze was reworked into a beat and just the opening guitar lick, Apache was changed to the A-Trak break version, and Pass that Dutch is different too. so they saved a bit there.

I, too, appreciate the sacrifice if there is truth to what you read. Where did you read that? I thought they were in the clear (pun) since sampling wasn't as big a clearance issue when PB was released.

Maybe Dan LeRoy might know something about this.

I read it in my Rolling Stone 500 Greatest Albums of All Time book. There's a thing here that has some details about the making of it, and Mario Caldato is quoted as saying "They spent over $250,000 for sample clearances. The list of samples on the album is so long-they're still getting sued over it."

i know ill appreciate most anything thay put out, but if my opinion counted i'd like to have the next album be a little more like any of their other albums, just a tiny bit, basically i dont want a TT5B repeat. then again they've never released two albums that sounded completely alike anyways so...

i knew i liked LTI and Hello Nasty, but today i put them in after a long time of not listening to them and they were WAY better than i remember, especially LTI. just thought i'd share that.

I wouldn't expect too much info on a new album at this stage. I doubt they walk into the studio with the mindstate of "alright, now we're working on the new album". It's more likely that they just hit the studio and make music and once they have enough material they start to collect and refine the hottest stuff they've got on tape. they're probly just creatin' right now, ain't even sure themselves what direction it will end up in.
