In continuation with my SST Records poll, here's a list of bands from another hugely important indie record label.

I fully recognize that there are lots of bands that were/are on Dischord, but I'm trying to limit the poll to its most "important" bands. So yeah, if your favorite isn't represented here, just use the "Other" option and tell us why you love them best.

Something tells me you won't be the only person to vote Minor Threat. :)

My vote goes to Fugazi. True musical innovation! (y)

I haven't listened to any of these bands, aside for having heard people discuss Minor Threat and Fugazi, so I listened to each band, except for the first three, and I like what I hear.

Dag Nasty, Shudder to Think, and The Nation of Ulysses are my personal favorites. I couldn't submit a favorite from that list right now, but I will when I have listened to the bands that I like from this list, more thoroughly, in the future.

Regardless, thanks for making this favorites list, DS. You've exposed me to some awesome bands.

That's awesome, Miho. That's why I start these threads.

And The Nation of Ulysses really provides the blueprint for Refused and The (International) Noise Conspiracy (i.e. their over-the-top anti-capitalism rhetoric).

And I love the garage-y feel of The Make-Up. Definitely lots of fun.

Glad to hear you enjoy 'em! (y)

I voted Minor Threat even though it's truly a toss up between them and Fugazi. Where would this world be without Ian Mackaye now really?

I watched this auction (http://cgi.ebay.com/MINOR-THREAT-7-KBD-PUNK-HARDCORE-SXE-dischord-ALL-4_W0QQitemZ4827394994QQcategoryZ306QQrdZ1QQcmdZVie wItem) last February whilst salivating the entire time dreaming of making a winning bid to have these all for mine own. *sigh* Seriously, it hurts me to think about it.

honestly I have only paid attention to Minor Threat and Fugazi, if I do enjoy them will I enjoy the other bands?

Well, the other bands are very different from Minor Threat. But most of the other bands listed here can be closer in nature to Fugazi (though Make-Up does a garage band sound, and Q and Not U [not listed in the poll] goes for the dance-rock sort of thing, I guess you could say).

Give 'em a shot, you'll probably find more you enjoy.

Fugazi was absolutely murdered by my freshman year roommate.

So nobody likes anyone besides Minor Threat and Fugazi here?

Well, Dag Nasty and Youth Brigade. But I still like Minor Threat better. And I didn't get Fugazi....:(

I've recently been feelin' 'Q and not U' but it's really hard for many bands to top Minor Threat in my book. (unless you're 3 white rappers who play instruments occasionally and have been rockin it for 20 years, uh.... yeah)

*gasp* What about Sonic Youth? ;)

P.S. - I'm absolutely LOVING Shudder to Think right now.
