I was very surprised to hear that Yauch digs this game. I know they're gamers (peep their interview with Electronic Gaming Monthly magazine), but Katamari is just great.

We like it alot. ;)

It's an awesome game, I should buy the sequel but I've been saving money.

It's totally crazy shit, you have a time limit to get to get this ball you roll around to a certain size. You get it bigger by running over things that get stuck to the ball but the things have to be smaller than your ball. So you might start out picking up thumb tacks but eventually end up ripping buildings out of the ground. It's really entertaining and satisfying, plus it has a really hip japanese art style that's simple but attractive.

EDIT: I just thought I'd add that many of those buildings you rip up aren't just buildings that are now suddenly in your playfield, they are buildings you were in. It's so cool.

They announced a Nintendo DS version ages ago, but I haven't heard anything about it for a while. That'd be sweet though, rolling it with the stylus.

Yeah it would. I don't know if the hardware could handle that many on screen interactive objects. I've heard the PSP game really chugs along. I also heard (and omg it's in the news on all 3 of the links I gave) that the series might be done with.

Actually, when the developers know what they're doing, the DS can pull off some pretty impressive 3D visuals. Check out Metroid Prime Hunters, for example...

Yeah I have MP Hunters, but most objects aren't interactive and there are very few wide open areas. KD without wide open areas and interactive objecst just wouldn't work. Wii would be a better choice.

Katamri rules, it rules so much that my friend "borrowed" my copy well over 6 months ago and has not returned it
